Hi,

I have a retirement visa with a single re-entry which I am going to use soon.

I was told you could purchase additional entries from immigration at BKK airport, does anyone have any experience doing this?

Thanks 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the ability to purchase additional re-entry permits at Bangkok (BKK) airport for their retirement visa. Responses indicate that it is possible to buy a multi-entry re-entry permit at the airport for 3,800 baht, which can be beneficial if the user plans to leave and return multiple times while their extension is still valid. It's advised to fill out the form beforehand to save time and to consider obtaining re-entry permits in advance to avoid cancellation of the visa upon return.

You are staying in Thailand with a “stay permit” – you are NOT staying on any visa

You have entered Thailand with a visa, and you get stamped in for a “stay permit” according to the visa category you use: that’s either 60 days, 90 days, or one year

If you enter Thailand on a “90-days single entry Non-Imm-O retirement/over 50 visa”

You will get stamped in for 90 days “admitted stay”

It is up to you if you want to converse your stay permit into a “one year extended stay permit”, or if you leave Thailand before the 90 days stay permit expires

The office is just past immigration. To save time print out the form before going to the airport. I have used these at both airports. However now I get the reentry permits in advance because if for some reason you can't at the airport your visa or permit to stay will be canceled and you have to start over when you return. Too stressful at last minute!

Thanks, I will try find that form and print it out. Yes definitely don't want to get the permit at the last minute when leaving the country.

Do you know if you can get the next reentry at the airport while you arrive into the country?

when you arrive back it's too late. You have to get it prior to leaving Thailand.

You can get the form online from the immigration website. Or just get it at the airport. Just takes a few minutes to fill out.

I don't think so because the reentry office is just after the immigration checkout point? But possible? You might consider just getting a multiple reentry permit for 3800 baht.

At the airport you can buy a multi-entry re-entry permit. It is bt3800 so if you are leaving and entering Thailand during the time your extension is valid for four times, or more, then it is worth it. You only have a choice between a single re-entry permit, or a multi-entry re-entry permit. You've already got a single re-entry permit, so you're good until your next trip out while your retirement extension is still valid.

I believe you can buy a single re-entry permit for 1,000 at IO or at airport (for the 1,000 plus small fee). You can buy multiple single re-entry permits. You do not have to buy the 3,800 re-entry permit if you are just going to leave 1 time.

not sure if you can do that anymore. You used to about 10 year ago.

maybe

could confirm?

there was a recent report that someone was not allowed to purchase a multiple re-entry permit at an airport, they were only allowed to purchase single entry. Not sure about that though since it's the only report I've seen of it. The immigration office will offer multiple re-entry though.

You both are correct. You can by single re-entry each time you leave at 1000 baht or a multiple re-entry permit at 3800 baht (plus 200 for photo and papers) at your local immigration or at the airport before you leave.

You can buy something called a re-entry permit when you leave. It prevents your entry stamp from being cancelled when you leave, but it doesn't add any time. You still need to be back before your stamp ends so you can apply for an extension.
