I have asked this before I think but I really need someone who is familiar with visas. I am an American and I was able to get a retirement O 90 day visa with a multi exit feature. I was hoping to see if I took a trip out of Thailand that I could get another 90 days on the visA. What if I get an extension to 1 year?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about extending their retirement O 90-day visa with a multi-exit feature. Responses clarified that if the visa was obtained inside Thailand, it's a single entry, and leaving the country would not grant another 90 days. To obtain a one-year extension, they must show 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account before the initial 90 days expire.

in case you got a "single entry 90-days Non-Imm-O retirement visa", you can only change from the visa to the "one year extension of stay" by showing funds of 800.000.- THB in a Thai bank account. If you don't switch from the visa to the "extension" your time will be up within 90 days. As this visa was a "single entry", you can neither extend or repeat it. You need to exit Thailand before the 90 days stay permit is over

Thanks so much. On your comment it stated a single entry. I have a multiple entry. When I had a tourist visa before that was multiple entry every time I left Thailand they doubled my stay. Why can’t I leave and return and get another 90 days. One person told me they don’t extend your stay. Is that true?

on a 6-month multi entry Tourist Visa, you get 60 days upon each entry within the 6 month visa validity period. You can extend them ONCE for 30 more days, for 1900.- THB on Immigration. If you exit and re-enter on the last day of the visa validity period, you get stamped in for a last time for 60 days, which you also can extend once for 30 more days. A METV will get you almost 9 months admitted stay, if you get your ducks in a row. . . . . . . if you want a visa that gives you 90 days admitted stay upon each entry within a one-year period, you would need to apply in your home country for a "multi entry 365-days Non-Imm-O retirement or family visa". Or for the 365-days multi entry Non-Imm-O/A retirement visa"

yes you can. But you need to follow the law regarding taking currency out of Thailand

Where did you get your visa?

If you got your visa inside Thailand from immigration you have a 0-entry visa, meaning you were already in Thailand when you got it. Purchasing a multi-re-entry permit on this would be a huge waste of money as the re-entry permit is only valid as long as the visa, so for 90 days.

If you got your visa before you went to Thailand, do you have a SINGLE entry non-O visa, or a MULTIPLE entry non-O visa that was issued from the embassy?

If you got a single entry non-O visa and then purchased a multi-re-entry permit, you once again wasted a lot of money as this visa and re-entry permit is only valid for 90 days.

If you got the multiple entry non-O visa from the embassy, then you will be stamped into Thailand for 90 days every time you enter the country until the visa end date written on the visa itself.

A re-entry permit purchased from immigration is never going to give you more time by leaving the country. All a re-entry permit does is mean your stamp is not immediately invalid when you leave Thailand, and when you return you are on the same stamp with the same end date.

thanks Brandon I did waste my money. I don’t know why I got a multi entry visa. I was hoping to leave the country and double my stay.
