What should I do if I haven't received my old passport with re-entry permit before traveling to Thailand on my retirement visa?

Hi Guys

Just booked a flight to BKK on 24th December returning UK in Jan 2022.

I have a 3 questions:-

1.l have just received my brand new Uk passport, but yet to get my old passport back yet and that old passport has my re-entry permit it it ( l have a 1yr extention based on retirement) and its an O visa.

I do hope my old passport turns up before l fly in 3 more weeks but if it does not will l have an problems at pattaya immigration when l ask them to transfer my "retirement visa" to my new passport?

2. Do l need to book a SHA hotel for 1 night to complete the Thai pass?.

3. Insurance, as l have a return flight booked for mid Jan l assume l only need insurance to cover me until that date, but l expect that l will probably not be returning until much later in 2022 ( The airline do not charge to cancel or alter that flight )

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is traveling to Thailand on a Non-O retirement visa and has concerns about not having received their old passport containing the re-entry permit before their flight. They ask about potential issues at immigration if the old passport doesn't arrive in time, whether they need to book a SHA hotel, and the insurance requirements for their return flight scheduled for mid-January 2022. Other users provide insights regarding the re-entry permit's importance, hotel booking for vaccinated travelers, and insurance proof needed upon entry.

I applied for a new UK passport a month ago. The old one was delivered 15 days after the new one.

1...yes you will have a problem on arrival as you will lose your current Non O without the reentry stamp and only be stamped in for 30 days visa exempt.

You will have to start the Non O process all over.

Best you wait for return of your old passport to carry with you to Thailand.

2...YES if you are fully vaccinated and flying from an approved country you MUST book a Test N Go hotel for one night stay

3....You will need to show proof of insurance for the time you are stamped into Thailand on arrival.

If you show one month flight out

The immigrarion officer may stamp you in for only one month and will need to leave Thailand on that date.

If my old passport does not turn up( I pray it does ) I do have the 90 day reporting slip that they stapled to the back page. If I show that and tell them the old one was lost ( which is true if it doesn't show up ) then can they not maybe prove I have entitlement to stay from the slip?

without the reentry permit you are not going to enter Thailand with its expire date...
