I am currently on non O retirement extension and will exit Thailand at the weekend. I have a re-entry stamp but just want to double check it is safe to leave via the e-gate.

Is it just my return next month that I need to go to the staffed immigration kiosk.

Thanks
Answer summary
The query addresses the safety of using the e-gate for exit while holding a non O retirement extension and having a re-entry stamp. Responses suggest that using the e-gate for departure is acceptable, but returning should ideally involve going to a staffed immigration kiosk to ensure proper stamping of arrival and departure dates. Various opinions indicate that while e-gates can be convenient, many expats prefer having a physical stamp for reassurance to avoid potential issues.

I'm retired and generally can't get home to Surat same day so time isn't a issue.

Leave on the E-gate but don’t enter, need a human to stamp you in.

If i understand correct the e gate are for people to have visa on arrival and have a stamp in passport before not for people that have visa already

Lars Göran Wermelin Not for Visa on Arrival, they are for 30 day visa exempt entries for passports from the 60 countries that qualify and using a passport with a previous Thailand entry stamp so that passport and biometrics match

Graham Seal Only 33 countries can use the gate

Willism69_The rules are perfectly clear. Anyone with a machine-readable passport can use the e-gates on departure, only people entering visa exempt can use them on arrival.

, I'm going home tomorrow for a month or so and will not use the gates, somehow I feel the need for any stamps clicked in my passport just for reassurance, take care and up the Bournemouth.

not worried about the exit stamp as still got 8 months on the extension. I will always use IO as preference if there are no queues. Up the Spurs

OP
I've done e gate many times previously when they only had on departure side.

Was just making sure nothing had changed since the introduction of new gates arrival side. Thanks

I'm of the opinion it is very important to get an IO to stamp departure and arrival dates in passport!

e-gates on departure are fine as long you have a re-entry permit.

But don’t use the e-gate on arrival.

Don't do the egate. Once i got asked by the immigration officer at time of entering.. they don't like checking their system..

Ken The Buffalo Guy I use the e-gates for day 1 and never had an issue. 😊

Gerar Teuben Only when you are on visa exempt, if you come with a visa and you use the automatic gate your status will be automatically changed to visa exempt

Ken The Buffalo Guy e-gates on departure are fine 😊 but don’t use on arrival.

Gerar Teuben Technically yes. Just that when coming back.. there is a chance of asking.. as the officer needs to cross and double check on the system.. you know how the immigration here.. still rely on papers black and white

Not on a multiple entry visa ,trying to mix automated exit and manual re-entry (or vice versa) while holding a visa will trigger a mismatch or error in the automated tracking system because visa status requires verification of your travel documents and digital entry/exit logs by an officer. Bypassing the officer on either end can lead to missing entry/exit stamps or digital records in the EES. I would not risk it
