I receive my 5 year visa on Tuesday and I want to get my certificate of residency. I am just curious if I can do a 90 day report in the first week because it's a requirement of the certificate of residence, or if I really need to wait.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is inquiring whether they can file for their 90-day report soon after receiving their 5-year visa, as this is required for obtaining a certificate of residency. Responses indicate that while the elite visa can potentially facilitate this process, Bangkok immigration typically requires that the first 90-day report is completed before issuing a certificate of residency. Some comments also mention that alternatives for bank account and driving license applications may exist that do not necessarily require this certificate.
Bangkok immigration don't give it until after your first 90 day report. If it's to open a bank account, or a driving license, Elite may be able to help you with that, ask them. You don't need a certificate of residency for a bank account if you have an acceptable reference, for example.

Normally you do, for a bank account not though. Elite may have a workaround for the license, or maybe you just have to wait 90 days.
