Hello admins, hello members...

i need advice from this community :

i am on retirement visa (first year, valid until may 2025) and i need to go back to my country - Italy - about half october 2024 (20 days circa from now). My plan is to come back to Thailand in april 2025 (to avoid the expiring of my retirement visa and just renew it ).

But i've heard that i need a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand...so my question is : where to get it (i got my visa at Pattaya Immigration Office, but now i am living in Bangkok) and which documents i need ? I am confused because someone says you can get this at Suvarnabhumi Airport, someone says i have to go to Immigration Office (in my case would be Chaeng Wattana?)...

I don't want my visa to be canceled, i am asking you guys because i want to do the right thing in order to mantain it.

Any suggestion/help is really appreciated, thank you in advance ! ā¤

TLDR : Answer Summary
A member, currently on a retirement visa, seeks advice on obtaining a re-entry permit before traveling back to Italy. They have learned they need this permit to maintain their visa validity and are confused about where to obtain it. Community members clarify that the re-entry permit can be acquired either at Suvarnabhumi Airport or a local immigration office, such as the one in Chaeng Wattana. They provide details about the process at the airport, including costs and required documents.

Yes u can take re entry permit at the airport as well before going to immigration counter. This is very easy and take few minutes. Single re entry is 1200 and multiple reentry is 4000. If you have time, you can go to chaeng wattana also few day before leaving thailand

Suvarnabhumi, international exit 2 after security control, just before immigration control, far left as you face the passport control desks ...

1200 baht, only passport needed, altho if you prefill the form and have a passport sized photo ready its a bit quicker than the usual 20 minutes and cheaper at 1000 baht

Easy

You can get it at the airport or the immigration office. Your choice.

the bangkok immigration office won't sell a reentry permit to someone with an extension from out of province. they said they have a pattaya extension, so Chaengwattana will send them away,

they need to do it at the airport

You are on 1-year extension, not on the initial visa any more.

Yes, you need to get a re-entry permit (single or multiple re-entry) BEFORE you leave to keep your current extension stamp valid when you leave Thailand and back.

You can apply for a re-entry permit either at the departure airport when you fly out or local immigration office.

You can apply for one at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Go to the International Departure Gate 2. There is a counter on the same floor with passport controls.

Put 20-30 mins for re-entry permit at the airport.

The Chaengwattana office in Bangkok may or may not issue a re-entry permit on a long-term extension that is issued by another office. Some offices don't issue in that case. Sorry, I'm not sure whether CW does.
