Can I get another extension for my non-O visa in Thailand without a border run?

I have a question. I have already got a 30 days extension for my non o visa stay permit after my first 60 days stay permit. now I wanted to know if there is any other way except a border run and re entry to get another extension or get a visa because I see that flying to another country may be more expensive than just extending the stay permit. I would appreciate any kind of help. And another question : is there a minimum amount of days that I have to stay in the border countries or can I basically return the next day to Thailand getting the 60 days permit again in the sense of a 1-day tour if they ask ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on visa extensions for their non-O visa after an initial 60-day stay and a 30-day extension. They wish to know if there are alternatives to a border run for extensions, and inquire about the minimum time required outside Thailand before re-entering to reset their stay. Commenters suggest that the user likely does not have a non-O visa and have provided insights about the type of visa available and the procedures for re-entry, mentioning potential complications based on the user’s nationality.

just a few good comments but nothing helpful…. Guys , I am a German citizen . Stop all these assumptions. Maybe ask first . I don’t want to get into arguments so just to make things clear. I am German. That’s why I don’t need a visa and the immigration office also confirmed that. So the question still remains. Can I theoretically leave the country and come back on the same day or the next day getting the 60 days permit ? I would appreciate it if you can give me helpful comments . Thanks

assumptions? That's necessary when you don't know what you've got. You said "I've got a 30 days extension on my non-o visa after 60 days" That's impossible. A non-o gives you 90 days stay permit - and can't be extended. So if you wrote correctly no assumptions needed. Apparently you are here - being a German citizen - on visa exempt (no visa) - which gives you 60 days and can be extended 30. You've already got an answer telling you if you can do it again.

Maybe tell everyone first then they don't need to assume by your profile. You seem to want to blame everyone else.

How did you get a 30 days extention on a Non Imm O visa?
Graham ******
You did not have a Non-O as explained above and, if you've used your 30 day extension, you've left it too late to get a Non-O in country as you would need a Thai bank account with the required funds to apply. Your only option lies outside of Thailand.

Armin Ka . . you must DEFINITELY have entered on a 60-days Tourist Visa issued in your home country - (you NEVER ever entered on a 90-days Non-O visa because this one cannot get extended for 30 more days) - because an Iranian citizen cannot get a 60-days stay permit on a visa exempt entry - you are NOT listed under the 93 countries elegible for a visa-exempt entry. So what you need to do, you can exit and apply for another 60-days single entry tourist visa through the online E-Visa system in a neighbouring country. However you CANNOT re-enter visa-exempt - which some of the people commenting here have totally LOST

as I said : please don’t assume stuff that you don’t know. I am a German citizen !

a German citizen with an Iranian profile and Iranian home address. How amazing. And you are HOPELESSLY confused by the rules. You post tells it . . "I have a question. I have already got a 30 days extension for my non o visa stay permit after my first 60 days stay permit" . . . . . . . you can't get a 30 days extension on a Non-O visa stay permit, this is the first MAJOR mistake and from there all the CONFUSION arises. This is NOT my fault, this is YOU being totally misinformed. Sorry but I am out of this thread , this has become a train wreck

Don’t try and cheat the system. Just obey the rules.

@David ******
you can’t cheat the system. You can only use it as it’s set up. That’s what we have to work with. Same for immigration.

@David ******
💯 correct

You don't have a Non-O visa. If you applied for a 60-day tourist visa through an embassy before arriving and then got a 30-day tourist extension at your local immigration office, you're good to go unless you're married to a Thai and can apply for a 60-day extension for visiting Thai family. Your eligibility for a border run and re-entry on a 60-day visa exemption depends on your passport nation. Consider using a professional land border transport company for the trip. Officially, there are no rules for how long you need to stay out, but some border crossings make up their own rules for foreigners who do a border bounce on their own.

he seems to have an Iranian passport. He cannot get a visa-exempt. He needs to apply for a SETV

guys , just because you assume something from my name doesn’t mean that you are right. I am German citizen so the visa exemption applies to me. But anyways. Thanks for the help.

@Armin ***
it's not only your name. It is the complete misleading info on your profile pic. If you are so proud to be an Iranian, you should rethink your German citizenship 🙂

Ah, ok — then he should have applied for a multiple-entry tourist visa before coming, and he will now have to stay in a country outside Thailand for the required time to apply for a new single-entry tourist visa.
Michael ********
Some clarification needed, dont think you have a Non O

@Armin ***
no you don't have a non o
Graeme ******
You can't have a non o visa as its valid for 90 days? And you can't extend it for 30 days either. It sounds like you entered on visa exempt i.e. no visa at all for 60 days and then extended at immigration for 30days. If you did enter on visa exempt then if you leave the country and then reenter then you should get another 60 days visa exempt but that of course depends on how many times yiu have done this previously and whether immigration will stamp you back in.

thanks for your answer. So just to have a clear answer. I haven’t stayed in Thailand for more than 1 visit and more than one extension this year or in general . So this is my fourth time in Thailand but considering the fact that everytime I went to Thailand it was only for 10 to 14 days and then I went back . And it was 2018, 2019 and 2023. So these were the times I was in Thailand . So I am not really someone who comes here every year.

And

baht ? The first time I entered Thailand some months ago the woman from the check in asked me how much money I have with me but it was not

baht for sure . That was okay as far as I can remember . Was is not supposed to be up to

you sound like you'll be ok 👍 it's

baht or equivalent so can be in any currency. The chances are you wont be asked its just in case they are looking for a reason to deny you entry.
Greg ***********
@Graeme *****
he could not have entered visa-exempt because he obviously is an Iranian citizen. He must have entered on a SETV and extended the 60-days stay permit with 30 days, yet
Graeme ******
@Greg **********
I said if, I didn't look into his nationality only that he was not obviously !!!! on a non o .
Greg ***********
@Graeme *****
he is not on a Non-O or maybe he is, but he can't possibly have gotten a 30 days extension of the 90 days of a non o. By the way, now, after 24 hours, he finally tells us that he is a German citizen. I am OUT of this train wreck of a thread

thanks for the one really helpful comment 👍🏽 yes I am from one of the eligible countries . I didn’t need a visa. So I could basically fly to one country and come back on the same day or do I need to wait a day. Honestly there is no rule that would explain that .
Graeme ******
@Armin ***
yes you can in theory. The immigration officer in the airport may just wave you through or could question you about staying in thailand on visa exempt and possibly deny you entry. If you haven't stayed in thailand for more than the 1 visit and extension then it's more likely you'll be ok. I would suggest you make sure you have the entry requirements with you in case they ask on your return. These are cash in your pocket I think

baht, a place to stay and an onward ticket within the 60 days of the new visa exempt. Unfortunately in thailand it's never a black and white answer it's always a depends on the IO even though the rules If you call them that dont actually change. I hope this helps
Robert ********
Ask in groups if anyone is doing a border run by car and join them
Greg ***********
@Robert *******
he has an Iranian passport and cannot do a border bounce because he won't be allowed in on a visa-exempt entry
Robert ********
@Greg **********
then he must go home
Greg ***********
@Robert *******
or apply for a 60-days single entry tourist visa in Vientiane, Phnom Penh oder Hanoi
