TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses options for extending a stay in Thailand after initially using a 60-day visa and an additional 30 days obtained in Jomtien. The main suggestion is a border run, although applying for a long-term Non-O visa is also mentioned as an option, which requires specific qualifications. The comments provide additional insights into the visa application process, proposed locations for the border run, and practical tips for travel.

The overnight train to Nong Khai is inexpensive and a generally good experience. The bus service at Friendship Bridge is great, ฿20. There's a bus to Vientiane on the other side should you decide to stay awhile. Entry on arrival is now $40. evisas are available online.

Yes unless you have Thai family (wife or child)

The only visa you can apply for in Thailand is a Non O visa and the requirement is passed 50 years and able to put 800K in a Thai bank. But you’ll probably need to do a visa run to an embassy to get 60+30 days to sort things out and apply. Border bounce gives you another 30+30 days.

Either a border bounce or a visa run to a nearby consulate

Unless you're ready to apply for a long term non immigrant visa, you'll most likely need to do a border bounce.
