TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking confirmation about their plan to stay in Thailand for 6 months using a Non-O visa for over 50s, initially obtaining 90 days in the country, followed by a border run for 60 days, and then an extension for an additional 30 days. The comments provide alternative methods for extending their stay, such as entering on a free 60-day stamp, a 30-day extension, and discussing the benefits of acquiring a 6-month multiple entry visa or converting a visa exemption to a Non-O.

A 6 month multiple entry visa keeps things simple. A Type O makes sense if your going to make Thailand your primary residence. The requirements are proof of funds for the previous 3 months. The price, I believe is the same. With a ฿1900 extension you only need to do 1 border run. I don't mind border runs, it gets me out of the routine of village life, and gave the opportunity to check out all the surrounding countries.

Another option would be com on extemption and convert that into a non o.

If you clear the qualifications it's cheaper than a border bounce

easy for us Scandinavians with embassies issuing affidavit letter just to confirm our income. As a UK citizen OP will need to bank 800K baht in a Thai bank for a Non O.

then they also have the 65kthb per month transfer method for next time...

Yes that’s correct for the second year. But you’ll need to transfer every month in the future to maintain your extension, and it might not be convenient for shorter stays in Thailand.

it absolutely is a cashflow problem. And it's still better than the 800.000 THB locked in a Thailand account alternative

I don't think they have any intention of banking the funds here to get an in country 90 day Non-O that's why they want to use it to get in, get the 90 days and then bounce for a free stamp entry

now they know that that option does exist. They can have enough pension too. Not enough information to know if they have that or a good embassy that actually helps...

Or you could forgo spending the £60 for the 90 day Non-O, come in on a free 60 day entry stamp, take a 30 day extension for 1900baht, bounce out and back to get a new 60 day entry stamp and take a 30 day extension for 1900baht.

That'd give you the same time in country without getting the Non-O single entry visa

OR just get the Non-O visa because an extension for 1900baht is £40 so you're not saving that much and you will have far less issue entering Non-O (may not need onward travel) than you would free stamp
