Can I extend my tourist visa in Thailand after losing my US passport and obtaining a new one?

Help please. I've lost my US passport and have obtained a police report and will go to the embassy to get an emergency 1-year passport. My tourist visa expires April 14 and I was planning on getting the 1-month extension. With my new passport, will I still be able to do this? Much appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has lost their US passport while in Thailand, obtained a police report, and is applying for an emergency 1-year passport. They want to know if they can still extend their tourist visa, which expires on April 14, with the new passport. Community members suggest that the user's information is likely still in the immigration system, which may help in obtaining a visa extension. However, some warn that additional documentation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may be required due to the lost passport, and recommend exploring alternatives such as a border run for the extension.

You shouldn't have a problem getting your original entry stamp put into your new passport,

BUT I don't know whether the immigration office will let you get a 30 day extension without getting the document from the MFA that they get from the consulate where you got your tourist visa.

I will try. Thank you so much.

Ally Kiyomi Goddard you can always do a border bounce for the 1 month extension...or go to immigration and ask for the 30 day stamp for ฿1,900

I’m surprised but not really surprised that that information is not annotated in the system when you stamp into Thailand by immigration officer...to make it a seamless process when things like this happen...

Thanks for your help. I will prepare to leave a month early in case I can't get the extension.

I agree with
@Jer***
, just get a new regular passport not a one year one because you'll have it in 10 days or so.

I have seen them be able to just stamp you in for your original arrival stamp from their documentation

Unfortunately getting an extension on your tourist visa situation isn't as easily resolved. :/ I have seen immigrations make you go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (the thai gov't office that runs all the thai consulates in the world) and contact the consulate where you bought your tourist visa and have them send proof you really have one in order to get a 30 day extension on a tourist visa from a lost passport.

No, it was a single entry 60 day I got in Penang. I was planning to leave Thailand mid-May.

@Jer***
, good point (y) ,
@Al**
, did you BUY a tourist visa at a thai consulate before you came here and got stamped in for 60 days

OR did you just show up here and get stamped in for 30 days free?
Jeremy ********
Maybe she Is on a 30 day visa exemption stamp...we know how many people believe that to be a tourist visa...

Why didn't you get the 10 year passport it will take the same amount of time to get

Well that is great news. Thank you!

10 year passport is free when you pay for an emergency passport. I did it last year in Bangkok. You have 1 year validity on the emergency passport. When you want to change to the regular passport, just submit the emergency passport and the receipt. No extra charge.

they say 2 weeks in actuality it’s more like 10 days...you will need to purchase the 10 year passport so you’re spending double the money...nothing is free in the USA

The 1 year can be made in one day. 10 year passport takes two weeks I believe...

You should because your information is in the system already...when you go yo immigration they will look you up and give you a stamp for the original date you had then you can go again and get the 30 day extension....this should happen...
