Simple question. I may have made a mistake. Checking the best course of action. I ordered a new passport. It's on the way. My VISA has been extended 30 days already, so i am planning to get a 7 day deny at the Immigratiom office as i am flying out on the 20th.
US Embassy quotes 14 days and people have said their passport arrives in 10-12 days usually. But i have not received anything. I am on day 13. Even the tracking number from the receipt shows no activity.
My question is, am i able to use my canceled passport to get a 7 day decline at immigration if i bring my receipt from the US Embassy for my new passport??

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring if they can utilize their canceled passport along with a receipt for their new passport to request a 7-day visa extension at the Immigration office in Thailand. They mention that their current visa has already been extended for 30 days and are concerned about possibly overstaying as their new passport has not yet arrived. Community responses suggest that while it is at the discretion of the Immigration Officer, there may still be a chance to receive a stamp to avoid overstay.
This 7 day deny thing - is it frowned upon by immigration or something they issue freely as a regular service? I'm considering it but don't want to do something that may influence future decisions towards me badly. My 30 day extension is up on Xmas day!
Ryan Garrido My friend got rejected at Nong Khai border with a new passport and overstay on his Visa Exempt in his old passport, told to deal with Immigration Office in Pattaya first. Their advice, due to overstay you don't get an Extension of Stay. Book a flight out of the country and deal with it at the airport. He bought a ticket and left Thailand after paying his overstay at the airport Immigration.
to follow up on this issue. I am leaving Thailand on the 20th. I received my passport on Saturday. Is it better to visit the Immigration now and pay for 4 day overstay 2000 plus 1900 fee plus taxi or just wait until i leave on the 20th and pay 3500 baht overstay fee, but its a 7 day overstay at the border rather then settling it at the immigration office. Is one case more preferable than the other in this situation??
so.....they told me i have to wait for a new passport. Come back with new passport + embassy letter and pay overstay fee 500 thb each day. Pretty much immediately declined, didn't seem like it was up for debate.
It would be totally up to the Immigration Officer, official as your passport is cancelled so can not be used for any Extension of Stay. But to avoid overstay, you have a small chance that the Immigration Officer understand the situation and will give you the stamp. I would say go and try, if you get it, your lucky, if not than at least you tried.
