Can I extend a 30-day visa to 90 days in Thailand and are onward flight tickets necessary?

Hi all.

Sorry if this has already been answered. Finally got my QR code and heading back to Thailand next week. First time travelling with my partner, I have two questions.

1. Is it possible to extend our 30 day arrival visas at a local immigration center? Ideally to 90 day. I used to do this in Koh Samui but not sure if it's still possible.

2. Are onward flight tickets required?

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending a 30-day arrival visa to 90 days and whether onward flight tickets are required. Responses indicate that the 30-day visa can only be extended for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office and that onward tickets are generally required by airlines, although securing a booking may suffice.

I would buy onward ticket just to show if they ask. I know they normally don’t but you don’t want to chance it

Excuse me if I interfere, just to ask and maybe advise, can I just book this exit ticket? or do you really have to buy it? Another thing, which country would be convenient to leave and enter at once din having to quarantine? .. Thank you .. these questions are also for me ..

Came in Oct 30 didn't ask, I did look at booking cheap Singapore ticket. Left it without paying they send an email asking you to complete booking. Maybe do that if by any reason they do check just complete the booking on your phone quick

I want to say all you need is a booking. I bought a one way ticket to Singapore which was about $59 one way. They didn’t ask for it but I got it anyway to be on the safe side.

Is your partner Thai if so you can extend gor 60 days based on marriage.

@Paul ******
A partner is a person you live with, without being married... So no extension based on marriage.

stop being pedantic they know what I mean

But HE wasn't playing semantics when he said he had a partner. He really meant that he was not married, thus your advice to extend 60 days is useless.

yes once only and its highly doubtful the covid extension will be extended from nov 26th, but you never know.

If you want 90 days now the only guaranteed way is a 60 day TR visa and the extend that by 30 days.

Nobody knows for sure if borders to neighbouring countries will be open or what requirements 2022 will bring to the region.

ofcourse, keeping fingers crossed. Don't think I can apply for the tourist visa as we are currently travelling Sri Lanka however I will look in to it and see if we can arrange at embassy here or online maybe.

some embassies let you apply online for Tourist Visas.

As far as I know you can extend only once.

30 day visa exemption can only be extended by 30 days. Never heard of a longer extension unless you mean the covid extension which expires Nov 26th

Assuming you're coming from a country that permits visa exempt entries, then you an extend that one time for an additional 30 days.

Onward flights are generally required by the airlines when you check it.
