Hello , someone heard about just one 30 extension visa by Year because the officers refuse to do it and ask me to go to the laos to do a visa tourist . I asked for an extension visa on the 10 January 2026 we are 10 months after. And I just need 30 days to finish my marriage paper. They are becoming complicated for everything . I waited for my birth daughter in 10 days and my visa ran out in 15 days . And because from now she can come at any time it is like taking the risk to not be here if she comes late and if I go now and she comes early. I will come back tomorrow if someone has some ideas.
Answer summary
The user is facing issues with obtaining a 30-day extension on their visa in Thailand, which is needed to finalize marriage paperwork before their newborn arrives. They mention that officers are refusing the extension and advising a visa run to Laos instead. Comments affirm that there is a policy limiting visa extensions to one per year, but suggest options such as applying for a last-day extension or using an agent to potentially get a second extension.

Since last November they printed a declaration stating only 1 extension per year, but you can get 2 if you go through an agent it would be cheaper than a border run to laos

The 1 extension per year has been a policy for a long time now. It's not uniformly enforced across the various immigration offices, but was definitely announced for everyone a while ago.

You can apply for an extension on your last day and ask them for the 7-day extension denied stamp if you just want a few more days. Your only other option is to leave and try to get a new visa to return.

If you qualify for visa exempt, then use a land border bounce agency to take you to the border and get you out and back in without any issues.

Update: I came back again today.

I get the same person but she doesn't remember us. This time she focuses on the 90 report of address and she gives me the 30 days extension without any questions or trouble. Is so crazy 🀣🀣 Thailand are so amazing: same girl, same passport, same request but not same results. All this for nothing they have too much power I nearly have to pay for the agency, or go to Laos and miss the birth of my daughter.

All this will cost a lot for Thailand.

No clear law, no information and no remedy. Just stressed, last of time and money. But today I got lucky.

I found nothing about a law that says that we can have just one extension a year. Just that the officers can do what they want. And we are limited to 180 days a year and one crossing border by land.

Mysa Lebar Earlier this year they were giving one 30 day extension. The second extension was only 7 days.

it's 2 entries by land using visa exempt. There's no 180 day limit but you'll start experiencing trouble around 180 days.

You can always use an agent for the 30 day extension as well.

I asked the Thai embassy in Wellington for clarification and they told me that with land entry you get only 15 days visa exemption. I don’t think any of them know the rules.

The numbers are speaking. And will keep going to speak . Vietnam +10 % every year, in Thailand -3 % every year. We are on holiday not working hours.

You are a politician you give stupid inserts, who needs a 1 year visa ? and they don't give 1 year tourist visa !! Tourists want easy holidays not make paper on the top of paper. I have a job and a life in Geneva, I 'm not a fucking Retired, super-rich, or online guru . I have been here for 18 years no problem just border run and no plan just a bank full of money but now they want to make us have every second of our holiday on paper. It will be so easy to do 90 visa tourists in 1 day by showing an airplane ticket, Booking and insurance or just insurance and 500.000 bath in bank or a good job. Not a fucking stupid 60 day visa in 2 months with 100 paper and question.

you can get a visa here for 1 year, 5 years, 10 years or 15 years. All you have to do is meet the requirements.

I would like you to insert what I'm if I'm not a tourist? And I need 30 days to declare my children and stay with her the first month. How to get married can take 4 months !!! .and is exactly what you say nothing is guaranteed here . Is for that everyone is leaving for Vietnam. They don't do visa tourists for 6 months or 3 months . Everyone came here in the first place because it was nice, easy and cheap and all these 3 factors are gone. If I was in France I would get married in a week . Or get a visa for a year

@Mysa ******
the only way you're going to get 90 days is to leave Thailand and apply for a visa. But you don't seem to want to do that. Although applying for a visa doesn't guarantee you entry. If you hold a passport that entitles you to visa exempt entry then you could find a border bounce company that will take you to the border and return with a 30 day visa exempt stamp

I would like to know what I'm . Because I 'm not a Retired , I'm not married , I'm not a father , I'm not a Thai ,I'm not a remote worker , I'm not an Investor , I'm not a millionaire. But I have money i male pretty good money in Geneva. Find me what I qualify for. I just need 90 days to become married or a father. Mean 60 day visa entry and 30 day extension, I'm inside the law but because here the law is about interpretation of the officers I get in trouble for a simple appointment from the french side or thai side 1 months !!

I'm not working here, I'm not investing, I don't have family or wife for the moment. The time my daughter will be here or the time the paper work for marriage will be validated I will not be a tourist anymore. But for the moment I'm a long stay tourist. Or find me other things that I qualify for. I work in Switzerland and i have my apartment in France

on practice I'm a tourist. The time I don't get married or have my baby. I'm still a tourist because I can't get another visa.

that's an easy one to answer. They want everyone to get an appropriate visa for the purposes of their stay. You are obviously not a tourist.

Ernesto Galvan and for your information I ask for insert not judging or question . Because I have some questions for you also .

OP
Ernesto Galvan because I believe that 2 months was enough to get married. And the 30 day extension was not a problem. But I understand that they don't want to make it easy . Just to get an appointment for my wife take 1 month for the paper to be single. And for the french embassy take a 15 day appointment and 1 month for the second appointment and after another one for the thai side. Is just crazy. In France it will take 2 days . I get stupid to believe that everything will be fine . They have the power they used for filling important. We work for the government they don't work for us.

Mysa Lebar yes they can "accept" you at the airport as the 180 day rule is a myth but often quoted by Immigration as it sounds feasible

@Brandon ***********
really you get trouble from the first border crossing lol and now if you stay more than 180 days they cannot accept you at the airport. I don't know what they want but they are making everything so complicated. I get in trouble when I do a visa run this year and when I come back to Thailand in September I nearly gets rejected because I was staying 150 days already between 2025 and 2026 . They want visa tourists at the embassy. They are losing people that have condos and business, all my friends go to Vietnam or malaysia.

I really don't want to make my family to someplace that are not welcoming people and business. They change laws so often ...
