TLDR : Answer Summary
To change your Non-B visa to a Non-O visa based on marriage, you do not necessarily need to leave Thailand. You can cancel your current extension of stay at the immigration office, provided you have documentation from your employer and the ministry of labor. After canceling, you can apply for a new yearly extension based on your marriage, which requires proof of 400K baht in a Thai bank account under your name for two months before applying, along with other required documentation. It's advisable to check with the immigration office for a detailed list of requirements.

yeah.. i think thats the only option now as i need to seasoned 2 months bank saving now. I'll just exit/reenter and apply for 90days Non O.

OR just get the money into the account and GO apply for the 60 day visit family extension which should buy you close to the 2 months you need to season the funds.

That's far cheaper than trying to exit/re-enter the country BECAUSE any way you slice it you're going to need the funds in there for 2 months or you won't get the year extension.

i need to extend this 60days right after my work permit expired right?

@Adrian ******
you need to cancel your work permit and then go cancel your extension and then buy the 60 day visit thai family extension to give you the time to let the funds season the 2 months (BUT remember 60 days is not 2 months so you need the money in the account before you start this process)

If they won't give you the 60 day visit thai family extension once you cancel your extension based on employment your only option will be to exit/re-enter thailand and THEN you will need to apply first for the 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage and then the year extension.

Get the 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only so it can start seasoning and then you can say when you cancel your employment extension you just need the visit family extension to get the money in the bank for the 2 months required.

I think the real problem is you don't have the funds seasoned the 2 months you need so you even CAN apply for the year extension when your current employment extension gets cancelled ๐Ÿ˜• That's what's gonna mess you up.

@Adrian ******
, LOOK in your passport, if the stamp you have says "extension of stay permitted until" it means you don't have ANY visa anymore and are on an extension and if that's the case you CAN change the reason you have an extension (cancel the one based on employment and apply for a new one based on marriage) there is no "get a Non-O nothing in the process"

Take your thai wife to the immigration office (because those are the people you need to be talking to) and make sure they understand you DO NOT want a Non-O VISA, you just want to change the reason for your extension from employment to marriage to a thai

once you get an answer from Tod, you do not need another opinion.

If you're on an extension of stay based on employment you wouldn't need to get a Non-O visa at all.

You cancel your current extension of stay at the immigration office with documents from your employer and the ministry of labor, then you immediately apply for a new yearly extension based on marriage by showing you have 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply and by having the required documentation.

GO to your immigration office and get the hand out listing the requirements to get a year extension based on marriage to a thai

my work permit ends on 1st March and extension of Visa expires on 1st May. I should do it this month or by April then?

@Adrian ******
Once your work contract ends, your extension of stay is no longer valid even there are remaining days. You need to cancel it and apply for another extension, otherwise, you are considered being on overstaying

@Adrian ******
If you didn't apply for a 60days extension visiting a Thai family yet, you can apply for that one first. Then you can have time for two months to keep your money in a Thai bank account for your 1-year extension based on marriage.
