TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus is that you cannot directly convert a Non O-A immigrant visa to a marriage visa in Thailand. However, as one's Non O-A visa approaches expiration, it is possible to apply for a yearly extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national. This process involves meeting specific financial requirements, such as having 400,000 THB in a bank account for at least 2 months or proof of income exceeding 40,000 THB per month. Extensions for marriage visas can take longer due to potential immigration checks, and the financial conditions for subsequent extensions must still be maintained.

0 thb in the bank for 2 months sent from out side Thailand.

If you want to extend the visa again the next year the requirements are the same except the

0thb has to have been in the bank for 3 months is that correct ?

We can go to the bank together show them the visa in her passport she had to come to the U.K. and the engagement ring.

Tell them we plan to get married in Thailand.

And i need the account for the
*****
0thb to show immigration every Year to get my extension visa based on marriage. She used to work for the Bangkok bank so probably try there first.

I've been saving post and reading them think I've got it all in my head now.

Thanks to this GROUP.

I will be looking at a deposit account to.

There's also no rule that the 400K baht originate from overseas either.

Best to make a Will out leaving it to someone so the bank don't get to keep it.

Yes - once each year when you reapply

And i take it you have to have the money in the bank every time you go for a extension be it marriage or retirement. ?
Tod *********
that is incorrect :/ For extensions based on marriage the "seasoning period" for banked money is always 2 months.

You are thinking of extensions based on being over 50 (retirement) where for the first year the money has to be seasoned only 60 days but for subsequent years it has to be seasoned for 3 months.

KB Lim - have you been in Thailand two full years on the O-A visa?

And the extra year is Free if not already used.

good question. (y) they might as well max out their time :)

When your Non-O-A visa is running out you apply for a yearly extension of stay at the immigration office based on being married to a thai national.

The financial requirements are lower (either 400K baht banked in an account in your name only for 2 months or a letter from your consulate stating you get over 40K baht a month) BUT the paperwork is much more, AND extensions of stays based o marriage to a thai go "under consideration" for 30 days and during that time the immigration office can come to your house to talk to you and your neighbors before you go back and get the extension stamped in your passport.

Or you go to a thai consulate outside of thailand and get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage. <- On that visa you have to exit / re-enter the country every 90 days for the validity of the visa.

If you don't want to do that you follow the earlier post I made about getting a yearly extension based on marriage at the immigration office.

Those are your two choices

Do you have a Non-O-A visa that you got from a thai consulate in your country before you came here or do you have a yearly extension based on retirement that you got inside the country at the immigration office?
