TLDR : Answer Summary
If you hold a Non-B multiple entry visa and wish to switch to a retirement visa, you cannot change visa types while remaining in the country unless you cancel your current visa. However, you can apply for a Non-O retirement visa on the same day you cancel your Non-B visa, provided you have all the necessary documents and meet the requirements for the retirement visa.

you can cancel your non-B (all documents ready) and apply for non-O retirement (must meet requirements), in same day.

That is NOT correct :( you cannot cancel a non-B VISA and change it to a non-O VISA inside the country.

You can cancel an "extension of stay" based on employment, and then immediately apply for a new extension of stay based on retirement.

One last time you can't change a non-immigrant VISA of one type to one of another type inside the country

@Tod ********
yes, you are correct. just checked mine, it stated extension of stay (using form 7)

@Edmund ****
then you're totally correct, you CAN indeed go from an extension for one reason to one of another reason :)

With the same criteria apply from moving from a non B Visa to a marriage visa?
Ellie *******
As
@T**
says above since a visa based on being married to a Thai national is also Non-O.

if you are on a year-long, multi-entry Non-B visa <-(the kind where you used to bounce in and out every 90 days before this covid shit show) and are now on amnesty you can't go to an extension based on retirement or get a Non-O visa based on retirement.

You can't change visa types inside the country and you can't get an extension for any other reason that the one the visa was issued for :(
