I am visiting Thailand end of this month on a 90 day tourist visa from the uk (British Citizen). I plan to exit Thailand at the end of this period to travel to Vietnam for 3 nights.

Is it possible to apply online for another 90day tourist visa for Thailand while I am in another country? Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question. ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The query revolves around the misconception of a 90-day tourist visa for Thailand. In reality, the tourist visa allows entry for 60 days, valid from the date of issue within a 90-day period. For those planning to travel to Vietnam and then applying for another visa, it's essential to note that applications must be made in person at a Thai embassy in the country where one is physically present, as Vietnam does not offer the option for e-visa applications.

There is no such thing as a 90 day Touristvisa. It's sixty days and valid from date of issue to enter the kingdom within a 90 day period!

First of all, there is no such thing as a 90 day tourist visa. All tourist visas are valid for entry to Thailand for 90 days, meaning you have 90 days from the day it's issued to use it, and then you will be stamped into Thailand for 60 days. All tourist visas are 60 day visas.

You can apply for a 30 day extension on this 60 day entry, but beware that the day you enter is counted as day 1, so you can actually only get 89 days out of it.

That being said, you must apply for a visa from the country you are physically in. Vietnam does not participate in e-visa, nor do any of the countries around Thailand. If you want to get a Thai visa while you are in Vietnam, you will have to go to a Thai embassy in person and apply physically.

I'm doing same but actually they changed the progress to apply for a tr visa. It's an evisa now, nur sure about UK citizen but German citizen only apply online for tr single or multi entry from last year on.

Check evisa Thailand on Google

you need to be in the UK to use evisa through UK consulate. They will require you to send them all the recent stamps in your passport and proof of your flight from UK to Thailand as part of the application. You can't apply for a UK evisa from Vietnam. Evisa did not change the rules that you apply from the country you are physically in, it only changed the method of applying.

interesting, where did you get that info from?

Proof of flights from UK to thailand: I would simply get a "fake"/flight reservation and I'd cancel it after, usually and I magine them don't check when arriving, or do they?

I mean, things can change, you could go to Vietnam after applying or don't go back because of some reason, so you enter from Vietnam

as long as you can provide the proof that the embassy wants, then it's possible

what part would you like to know mate? I was curious if I would be able to apply for a E-VISA (tourist)from Vietnam.. I want to do another tourist visa after my first one, but if this is not possible then I will just do visa exempt (45days) then extend 30 days instead. I want to visit Vietnam anyways.. I know I can book a โ€œchuck awayโ€ ticket but not what I am looking to do on this occasion. ๐Ÿ‘

maybe don't need to visit the embassy

@Joe *******
yes, but make sure you check the website of the embassy you plan to go to as they're all being very strict since covid. Some require an appointment, some even require 2 appointments (one to drop off your application and another to pickup your passport with visa) and they have other requirements they are very strict on.
