Hi everyone,

Firstly I want to say thank you to everyone in this group for creating such a supportive and helpful community. There are other groups that I’m so scared to post in for fear of being made fun of and being called an idiot just for asking a question and I really appreciate the people here who are genuinely wanting to help

Now, my question is: I plan to go to Vietnam and apply for the Thai tourist visa to re-enter Thailand on May 24. I have a flight booked to Europe on September 13, but I’m not sure if the Thai embassy is wanting to see a flight booked out of Thailand within 90 days of the entry date (the 60 days for the tourist visa plus the 30 day extension)

Should I book a flight out of Thailand within 90 days of May 24th? Or do they just want to see that I’m leaving Thailand eventually?

Thanks again for all your helpful advice in this group!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they need to book a flight out of Thailand within 90 days of their entry date, considering they plan to apply for a Thai tourist visa in Vietnam. Various community responses indicate that while some embassies may require proof of onward travel within the validity of the visa (60 days for the tourist visa plus a potential 30-day extension), there is no definitive answer, and it may vary depending on the immigration officer. Users suggest booking flexible or refundable flights to avoid issues.

Kinda hard to say, depends on immigration where you do your things. Some take a 30 days extention in mind and let you have a return 30 days later, some don't. Better do it properly unless you know what they accept or not, you can usually move flight dates for a smallish fee or book a refundable one.

If they want to see a flight out/onward travel they'll want it within 60 days.

Totally agree with you Becca in regards to holding back from asking questions. There are some really bitter folks who feel the need to express this pain to others. They are suffering, as we all are, but they try to release this suffering onto others. Weak move in my opinion. People need UNITY ....not to mention unity as expats...being a minority and all! ლ(╹◡╹ლ)

If you go to vietnam, keep in mind you have to get an appointment online for the embassy , in Hcmc and in Hanoi, and the slots are booked long in advance.

Lao could be better to get the thai visa.
