Can I apply for a DTV Visa at a consulate in Vietnam, Laos, or Myanmar while in Thailand on a non-B Visa?

Hello seekers of a better life! I’m not sure if anyone has the same situation as me here, but I am currently in Thailand on a non-B Visa and experiencing issues with my Visa agent. As such it makes more sense for me to stay in Thailand under the DTV Visa as I have limited company in the UK and would meet the requirements. However, as I am not currently residing in the UK, which is where my passport is based can I leave Thailand and do this at one of the consulatesin Vietnam, Laos or Myanamar.

Any help would be much appreciated from someone who might have been or be in similar position.

Sorry for the anonymous post but it has to be this way so I’m not defaming my agent.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Thailand on a non-B visa is exploring the possibility of switching to a DTV visa due to issues with their visa agent. They are inquiring if they can apply for the DTV visa at a consulate in Vietnam, Laos, or Myanmar, as they do not currently reside in the UK where their passport is based. Various comments indicate that it is indeed possible to apply for a DTV visa at these locations, but that applicants should ensure they meet qualifications and understand that applications for the DTV visa cannot be processed within Thailand.

The best way to find people's experiences in submitting for an application and getting granted the DTV is to do a search on this group, keywords: Vientiane, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, Laos or Myanmar. You already have a wealth of experience from a lot of people if you do a search. And no you don't have to go back to your home country. Good luck.

You would probably have to go to the labour bureau and cancel your current non b.

Posted previously: Hello,

I too received the DTV in Vientiane today.

I’m Canadian, have a Canadian holding company and a Canadian residence. I was teaching in Thailand until this past June.

I brought a ton of info with me including Thai bank statements, tax ID card, personal Canadian tax returns. They handed this all back to me.

Beyond the standard photos, passport copies, application etc they reviewed:

- 3 months investment account statements showing
*****
0b each month.

- copy of lease in Chiang Mai.

- AoI from company.

- corporate tax return

- bio of company and myself.

- original signed contract with Canadian client.

- letter from Canadian client which confirmed I would be working remotely.

Essentially they wanted to know: what are you going to be doing in Thailand, where are you living, and how much money you got?

You don’t need an agent. It’s pretty easy, assuming you actually qualify.

Read a few weeks of postings and you will know what to do.

You can do it through/at any Thai office except in Thailand.

Taiwan is legit too- 2 day business turn around time as of 1-2 weeks ago. Check the recent posts and see what the reports are and discussion is. It’s changing week by week in some cases due to the rollout of e-visa so each month can definitely be different. See which country works best for your passport and where is fast or easy or whatever it is you want and also consider where you want to spend a week or two in case it is delayed or there’s issues.

Yes, you can travel to another nearby country and apply there. Some you have to physically attend the embassy and others you apply online but still need to be present in the country
