Has anyone applied for the DTV visa online through thaivisa.go.th? It only let me apply if I state that I'm currently in my home country. Which isn't a big deal as I'm heading home next month for a week. But my question is, is it all online or do I eventually have to go to the Thai Consulate in my home country to obtain it?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for the DTV visa online through the Thai eVisa system without the need to visit the Thai Consulate in your home country. Once you complete the application online, you will receive a PDF file to print out and present along with your passport at each entry to Thailand. However, it's important to keep this PDF safely as reissuing it may pose difficulties.

You will recieve a pdf file to print out, which you will have to present along with the passport on each entry. Don't loose access to the pdf as i've seen no process detailing a reissue. So keep some backups, 5 years is a long time to hold onto a file/paper.

In 99% of cases if doing eVisa there is no need to either hand your passport in or to show up in person. All online. But - to mention this for sake of completeness: They do reserve the right to invite you in person if they are in doubt. Have not heard of that happening, though.

You don't have to be in your home country but you apply using the method determined by the embassy in the country you are in. Either the evisa system or a visit to the embassy. You can't apply from inside Thailand

It's all online, no visit, no stamp or sticker
