TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility for non-Turkish individuals to apply for a DTV visa at the Thai consulate in Istanbul or electronically through the Thai Embassy in Ankara. There is mention of difficulties in the eVisa application process, as the Turkish side does not seem to support non-Turkey applicants online, raising questions about the application process for non-citizens.

even though it says on the Ankara thai consulate website that you apply thru the eVisa system I can't get turkey to come up as a choice at all logging in and trying to select that as the current location. In fact it says you can't apply online even if I say I am Turkish 😮

Looks like the visa section at both Ankara and Istanbul is now closed until the 9th October and they move to the evisa system on the 8th October

thank you - so at that point (Oct 9 onwards) do you think it will be possible for non Turkish (and non Türkiye residents) to get the DTV by applying online (e-DTV) while physically in Turkiye?

thank you for your reply and for looking that up!!Much appreciated.

OK that’s confusing and not very encouraging. I did read a report of someone getting the DTV recently in Ankara but they were Turkish and went in person. I will be in Istanbul and wondered if I could as a non Turkish citizen either apply in person in the consulate in Istanbul or electronically via Ankara.

all you can do is go there and see if you can apply I don't even see that the DTV is listed on the honorary consulate in Istanbul website

ok thanks, I guess I have to enquire in person when I get to Istanbul. But I would ideally prefer to know beforehand so I can plan more easily.

right, thanks - I wonder if they will process it in person in Istanbul though (as I won’t be in Ankara), this is what I can’t figure out.
