Hi everyone,

Thanks for this page to exist because I need your help! 👀

I’m currently managing my sales consulting business from Thailand but I only have a tourist visa for now.

I’m looking to get the DTV but tried online and apparently there is no option for people that are already located in Thailand.

I was wondering if someone had the same issue and if some solutions exists.

Thanks 🙏🏼

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a tourist visa in Thailand and wishes to switch to a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) but finds that there is no online option for those already in Thailand. Community responses confirm that to obtain a DTV, one must leave Thailand and apply through an embassy or consulate outside the country, as applications cannot be processed while one is within Thailand. Various nearby countries, like Cambodia and Laos, are suggested for the visa application process.

You can go outside and apply in person, you can only apply online for your own country, so would need to go home. I’m considering jakarta, hanoi (have been told it’s difficult, but want to visit) or vientiane.

Get out of Thailand, before somebody discovers you work on a tourist visa.

😂 please stop with this fake fear mongering. DTV is also a tourist visa, just an extended one.

If Revealed working on a touristvisa, no need to apply for DTV, since banned for going to Thailand.

The author of the comment is 100% right. If you tell immigration officer that you will work on tourist visa (non DTV) you go home immidiately. Anyone who was doing visa run on tourist visa will tell you this. Never admit you work.

While you have good intention that DTV visa allows remote work, it would harm the others who just want to answer questions of immigration officer (border bounced, visa exemption etc.). Publicly admitting it is even worse (it's not anonymous post)

May i ask that you work from Thailand or work in Thailand?

Solution is you have to apply through and overseas embassy or consulate. I believe Cambodia or Laos May be an option closer to home?

It would be really valuable to spend a half hour reading posts from this group- there is soo much information here and you will get most of it not all answers. If you read the requirements, it states clearly you have to apply outside of Thailand. Evisa online or at a consluate nearby (but most of them are going to evisa in October).

I agree, but I wouldn’t take the posts in here too seriously. I’m noticing even people who got the visa don’t quite understand why they asked for what they asked for.

They ask for bank statements to prove you’re actually a remote worker or business owner not to prove you always had the the 500k deposit as an example.

Plus there is other avenues like the muay thai option which has a $10kUSD and no remote work requirement.

The solution is to leave Thailand and return with the DTV.

Yes, you have to apply outside of Thailand
