Answer summary
The best option for UK citizens currently in Thailand on a tourist visa is to apply for a DTV visa online after visiting either Cambodia or Malaysia. Starting in October, both of these countries will have Thai consulates accepting online eVisa applications. You can submit your documentation remotely, and once approved, you'll receive an eVisa PDF to present when returning to Thailand.

You're in Luck, BOTH Cambodia's and Malaysia's Thai Consulates are going to the online eVisa system in Oct.
You go to one of those countries apply online, upload your documentation, wait for the processing time THEN they email you the eVisa PDF that you print out and show when you come back to thailand
You'll be able to do it from either of those countries as a brit using the eVisa system once they come online

no graphic or updates on their site. Just an email reply from them stating this. They also said it would take around 30 days to receive date October. I’ve since heard all of them are moving to evisa in October. I posted about it in the dtv group.

that’s pretty amazing news.

Yet it seems the approval is always faster and easier when you do it offline (at the embassies which still don't have the system).Tod *********
@Elías *******
it does indeed, that's because they can check your documents while you're standing right there

same as it is now, you show you are IN Malaysia when you apply (just like you do when you walk up and turn in hard paper applications)Wannikea *********
