Hi bro and sis,

I have few question of 1 years Non O immigrant visa

After 1 years together with my girlfriend we plan to get married

I will be going to savannakhet to get my visa as I only can meet the 40k baht per month income. As savannakhet requirement doesn’t need any proof money in bank.

1. Am I able to get 1 years visa instead of getting the 90 days first and then 1 years visa

Or I can get 1 years and 90 days together?

2. What usually the officer in savannakhet look at your passport example: how many stamps you have in your passport? Because of the past 1 years I been flying to Thailand frequently to visit my girlfriend. As the airport officer told me to get marry visa instead if not will have problem next time.

3. Once you submit the application does it means the officer checked that your visa will be approved? Meaning if they see you not really legit they will straight reject and won’t ask you come back tomorrow.

Thanks 🙏🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary

It also explores how the consulate checks the applicant's passport and the acceptance criteria for the visa application. Commenters provide insights on applying for either a one-year multiple entry Non-O visa or a single 90-day visa, the required documentation, and alternative locations for visa applications. 's excellent advice and you will be able to get a year long, multi-entry Non-O visa from the thai consulate in Savannakhet.

Just in case you're wondering these are the documents you need to take with you (and you do NOT need to take your thai wife)

-the original rose bordered marriage certificate

copies of:

-front&back of the rose bordered marriage certificate

-front&back of your thai wife's i/d card

-thai wife's house book listing

-data page of your passport

-lao visa & entry stamp

you also need 2 passport sized photos,a filled out application along with 5000baht.

She signs the things with her name on them, you sign the things with yours <- meaning you BOTH sign the marriage certificate copies ;)

(who advised u correctly) you are confusing 2 very different scenarios:

1- u get a SINGLE 90 day Non-O with the intent to then EXTEND inside Thailand.

In that case u will need the 400k in ur account for 2 months, bla bla...

Then they extend those 90 days to 1 year.

In THAT case if u ever leave u need re-entry(s) and u also need to do 90 day reports.

2- u get a 1 year multiple entry visa.

That gives u a window of 1 year to come in/out as many times as u want... and a max stay of 90 days at a time.

No re-entry needed no 90 days reports.

(TM30 applies for both scenarios)

With option 2 u could get up to 17 months out of that visa.

If u leave and come back on day #364 u would still get 90 days as the visa is still valid.

Thats 15 months.

Then an extension inside TH based on family for 1900 baht.... another 2 months.

Whether scenario 1 or 2 depends.

Most of the people that use option 2 is cuz they dont have the 400k... OR.... they dont really live in TH. Just come here often... so the whole no-90 days no-reentry is great for them.

Option 1 is more convenient if u do have the 400k and plan to live in TH most of the year without having to leave every 90 days.

Also: i would strongly recommend Ho Chi Minh instead of Savanaket

They do NOT check financials, very few people, and a GREAT city to enjoy while waiting for it all to be done.

Same turnaround: 1 day hand in..... if anything missing they will tell u (nice people at thay consulate) if all OK they receive all and 200USD

Next day pick up after 13hrs

I’m assuming you’ll be married by the time you go to the consulate.

1. You would get a 1 year multiple entry visa which gives you 90 days per entry. You must leave/border bounce every 90 days.

2. They are strict on tourist visas but as you are applying for a non o based on marriage I don’t think your history of previous visits will be an issue.

3. Generally once they’ve got all your documents and accepted the application it’s a straight forward pick it up tomorrow job. If there’s any issue with missing documents they won’t accept the application.

thank you bro!

For no 3. Once they accepted means 100% visa will be issued?

For my country side (Singapore) thai embassy they need to go through review then able to proceed
