Just received my Non O visa from Savanakhet. Went on a Tuesday night from Mukdahan at 5pm stayed at the Aura hotel Savanakhet 2 nights (900 Baht total)

Arrived at the Embassy Wednesday morning at 08:15am got my paperwork checked at the photo shop opposite the embassy crossed the road to find I’m just 2nd in the queue later it got very busy once the first bus arrived from Mukdahan.

Paid the 5000 baht with completed paperwork and walked out with my receipt at 09:04am so simple

Next day collected my passport at 2pm with the 1 year multiple entries stamp

It was easy it was stress free and everyone involved was so courteous

Try the Savanakhet embassy it’s the best

Great info! Did you use a thai marriage cert or foreign? My thai wife and I were married in the USA
Stephen ************

@Eric *******
I used the original Thai marriage certificate

I believe you can get a foreign certificate changed into a Thai certificate at the Office of foreign affairs in Bangkok

I guess you prefer to pay a corrupt agent in Pattaya only to find when the Immigration Police come knocking on your door (and they will) you will get deported and spend the next 5 years in your crappy home country

NOW that sucks 🤣🤣🤣
Daniel ******
@Stephen ***********

Thanks for the update, it's a cool thing to do in Savannakhet for expats married to a Thai wife. . . .By the way, it's a consulate, not an embassy. At the Thai embassy in Vientiane, the process is different and you would have to show the financials
Stephen ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Andreas ********
Yes it is a consulate but most people refer to it as an Embassy or it gets even more confusing 🤣
Andreas *********
@Stephen ***********
yepp, I know. Are you aware that, vice versa, even Tod Daniels calls all embassies "consulates" ? 😅😅

at the Royal Thai Savannakhet Consulate you do not have to show 400.000.- THB funds, when you apply for the multi entry Non-Imm-O family visa. However if you apply at the Royal Thai Embassy Vientiane for the same, you need to show the funds. That's why many Expats married to a Thai wife use the ROYAL THAI CONSULATE in Savannakhet (it's not an "embassy"), and to my knowledge I think the Royal Thai Consulate Ho Chi Minh City also still doesn't ask for the financials

what the documents need to prepare

open the Website of the Royal Thai Consulate Savannakhet. The "multi entry" Non-O is NOT listed but available at the consulate. The requirements are the same as for the 90 days Non-O, however the fee is 5000.- THB. Every copy must be signed by the Thai wife in BLUE ink! . . . . . . . . .Required documents

Visa application form [Download] which is completely filled out and signed by the applicant

Original and a copy of passport or travel document (must not expire within 180 days and contain at least two complete empty visa pages)

Two (2) photos of the applicant (3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within 6 months)

Original and a copy of marriage certificate (for spouse/parent) or birth certificate (for child).

A copy of Thai identification card (for spouse/parent)

A copy of passport (for spouse/parent)

A copy of Thai House registration

Visa Fee: 2,000 Baht (Single Entry)

Not at Savannakhet they did not require that prove

They do not even ask for proof of a bank account just the original marriage certificate signed by the spouse and blue book also signed by the spouse
Rintip ************
@Stephen ***********
thank. I just get my married certificate last week. And i dont have

0 in my bank accounts.
Stephen ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Rintip ***********
You do not require that sim of money in a bank account in fact they do not ask to see proof of a bank account

They are mainly interested in an original marriage certificate and a copy of blue book in your wife’s name all signed by your wife in blue ink
Remo ********
@Stephen ***********
How does the blue book requirement work if your wife doesn't own a house? We're renting right now.
Stephen ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Remo *******
Not sure on that question.

Maybe a copy of her tenancy agreement showing her name etc. Best to check with your nearest immigration office
Lutz ********
Did you have to make an appointment in advance just like in Vientiane?
Stephen ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Lutz *******
No appointment required it’s 1st come 1st served

That’s why I went the night before and stayed at the Aura hotel 450 Baht a night

The 1st bus from Mukdahan arrived at around 08:30am and it’s always full
Lutz ********
@Stephen ***********
Thank you so much.

Was this for you as an idividual or married person ? also did you have to show funds in bank ?

This is a clear benefit of being married to a Thai national

20 years down the line married and could not be happier

Forgot all those bar stool bulshit about “Money is King” in Thailand 👍

Maybe he thought I was an old pro at the game 🤣

Either they stopped it or you were lucky because I wasn't the only one, I made a post about it last month when I went and many people replied back to say they had also been shafted.

They give him his passport back and take only his marriage certificate with other documents. Can he go to savanketh to apply ? I need some advisa thanks

@Emigos *********
Yes there are no restrictions where you can apply at Thai embassies

Many people have had the same experience at Vietiane and were successful at Savanakhet 👍
Emigos **********
@Stephen ***********
Thank you Stephen Hunt- Leigh for your useful information. I think I will tell my friend to proceed to savanakhet to apply for his Non o marriage visa. 1 more thing Stephen, is it possible to apply 1 year Visa straight away or most it be 3 months only is available at the embassy. Thanks as I wait for your reply if you have an idea.
Stephen ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Emigos *********
I believe the Non O Bisa based on a marriage to a Thai national is for 1 year with multiple entries, that means you must leave Thailand every 90 days and return the same day and you receive an additional 90 days

This is 4 exists in 1 year
Maxim ***********
@Stephen ***********
"Copy of Blue Book (House)", and "Original Lease document for house + Copy". My wife name is on those, not my name, is this a problem?
Stephen ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Maxim **********
I believe that they require to see your name on the lease agreement because the blue book will be in your wife’s name

If your renting a property your wife will not have the blue book so the answer is she must own the property
Emigos **********
@Stephen ***********
Thank you very much for your updates. Your update is very useful. I appreciated so much . He don't have a blue book but his wife own's a Property . How much is visa fee for 1 year multiple visa .

5000 baht for 1 year multiple entries and must be paid in Thai baht

alright ,thank you so much . One more thing , is it advanceable to go to savanakhet to apply the non o.visa straight away not waiting the thai embassy in Vientiane where I applied for the first time and they told me I should wait for 1 month to verified my doc. I need an urgent advise please. Thank you..

@Emigos *********
No reason to wait to go to Savanakhet

The advice given was for Vietiane embassy which has nothing to do with the Savanakhet embassy

Just fill out a new application form from the Savanakhet embassy website

It should be like the one below

Good luck 🙏
Emigos **********
@Stephen ***********
ok thank you Stephen

@Stephen ***********
i was going to ask same question thank you for your answer.Then no need to go with wife right?Or need to go first time with wife?
Stephen ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Stelar ******
Not required as long as she signed documents in blue ink
Stephen ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Stelar ******
Yes they do not require the presence of your wife

As long as you have her signature in blue on the relevant copies your through to the 1 year visa

Btw blue ink on copies shows it’s a genuine signature not a photo copy 🤔
Incognia **********
@Stephen ***********
how they know it is her signature?From marriage certificate?
Stephen ************

@Stelar ******
ID card and personal records on their database which they have access to

It’s the 21st century 👍

You obviously feel beefed about Thailand and it’s Visa process so mate “jog on” there are many platforms that will sympathise with you 🤔
