REPORT: Suvannakhet Non-O based on marriage multiple entry (12 mths).

Took a drive myself, had the vehicle passport to cross the boarder. Crossing the boarder took all of 1 hour with the car. Got to the Embassy at 7.30am, was 17th in line. Once it opened at 9am, took another 45minutes to hand in the paperwork including

1. Form filled out

2. Orig Marriage Cert + copies signed by wife

3. Tabian Ban for wife signed by her

4. Thai ID copied both sides signed by her

5. Copies of my passport

6. 5000thb

Went back the next day at 1.30pm, gates opened at 2pm, I had my passport in hand, back in the car and back over the boarder and into Thailand by 2.45pm

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post details a personal experience of obtaining a Non-O visa based on marriage at the Savannakhet Embassy, which included specific requirements such as submitting a marriage certificate and personal documents. It mentions the amount of time spent waiting, the fees involved (5,000 THB), and provides insights on the overall ease of the process. Several comments offer additional tips and discuss the implications of the multiple entry nature of the visa, including necessary border runs every three months and considerations for financial requirements.

okay this was a post updating people that the requirements to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage in Savannakhet have not changed.

It is not a post about the perils of border bouncing at bad crossings, getting a Non-O in Vientiane, holding a Non-O for another reason, or getting 60 day extensions AFTER you have a Non-O

Thanx
@James *******
for the update (y)

We are DONE :P
Andrew ******
Happy to see nothings changed. I did mine in January

5000 b for a 1 year multiple entry O visa ? It is cheap.

@Pascal ********
, most people get the Non-O year long multi-entry visa based on marriage either travel quite a lot OR don't want mess with the documents, the bank money and the thai immigration people for yearly extensions. It's an option, but not the only option.

I am not married, have half Thai son

@Robert ******
I have got one inside Thailand this year, coz in Penang was 100k before, now same 400k
Robert *******
no problem, best is to do the visa runs on time, get almost 15 months out of the visa and apply for the 60 day Extension of Stay on the last 90 days term. Gives you almost 17 months.
Scott **********
@Robert ******
sorry never realized, ive never had an issue with extending for dependency but im not disagreeing
Robert *******
@Scott *********
That really depends on your Immigration Office, most of them only allow you 1 time a 60 day Extension of Stay during the validity of the visa.
Robert *******
@Jana *******
According your profile you are a female, if married to a Thai man you can get the 1 year Extension of Stay without financial requirements. Why you leave the country to buy a visa based on marriage?
Jana ********
@James *******
yes but how many years you enjoy it, plus need money for it too
Scott **********
you can extend for 60 days every time, so every 5 months

Nice to go for a holiday each 3 mths, go somewhere different, works for me, no need to muck about with Immigration either which IMHO is worth it
Andrew ******
Just do a border run to maisai and back. Every 3 months yes but make the most of it
Pascal *********
@Jana *******
Thx for explanations. Didn't know need to exit so often, this is the boring part and a bit crazy if you are married.
Jana ********
@Pascal ********
yes but you need to travel out every 3 months, not so cheap after, did 5 years, now single entry

I'm going next week, no show of funds or letter from your wife ?
Jon *********
@Frank *************
Yes they are getting strict on seeing funds to support yourself.

I am sorry i could not give you an exact figure as to how much they expect to see.

@Jon ********
Vientiane is different.
Frank **************
@James *******
after 15 month I got another 60 days extension for 1900 Baht at our local Immigration , Sisaket.
Jon *********
@Mark ****
Vientiane ask for funds to support yourself..

I was there a few weeks ago I just showed a copy of my bank book.

Good luck.
Charles ***********
@James *******
You can get a 60 day extension.
Tod *********
@Mark ****
but this guy posted he was using SAVANNAKHET for a year-long, multi-entry Non-O not vientiane for a 90 day single entry :/

You need to remember different consulates require different things and what savannakhet requires for a year-long, multi-entry Non-O has NOTHING to do with what vientiane requires for a 90 day single entry :(

BUT

in this case you're gonna be fine all you can get in Vientiane is a 90 day single entry and the documentation is the same AND there is no proof of funds
Mark *****
@Tod ********
i have a appointment booked at vientiane consulate next Thursday. I'm applying for a non o imm single entry based on marriage... Just making sure I have all the documents ready..
Tod *********
NO proof of funds is required at Savannakhet or HCMC for a non-o based on marriage.

NO letter from your wife is required at Savannakhet but it IS required at HCMC.
James ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
No buddy, you only need a letter from your wife if going to HCMC. No proof of funds for the multi entry, but be aware with this visa you only get 90 days permission to stay each entry, but with a bounce at the end you will get 15 mths + 1 mth extension from this style of visa.
James ******
Sounds relatively easy
