I refuse. Hotels also sometimes ask. I just ask them to make a photocopy

I lived in Myanmar for 4 years, but went to Thailand at least 5 times during each year, and it's difficult to learn a language outside of English that does not use the same letters. I learned greeting words, taxi words and restaurant words. I didn't commit to learning more of each language because that is A LOT to learn. In Thailand, it seems that many people in the tourism business speak English and that is helpful.

it’s not my ‘worldly point of view’. I’ve read this in so many places and people from other countries tell me this. I think it pertains more to travelers than to expats, for sure. I'm an expat, and I don't see this from other expats.

I don't think it's the airlines. It's the country of your final destination. The airlines just follow those rules of that country.

Raising your voice like that in most countries won't get you what you want. It just makes you look like the loud, entitled American.

I don't anyone has been vaccinated in the U.S. yet. The first to get vaccinated are front line workers and those in 'old folks' homes.
