To get the Non O in the U.K. you need £10k in a U.K. bank account for 3 months - or show you get a pension. It’s meant to be a State Pension but I showed an occupational pension.

You’ll need 800k in a Thai bank account soon after you arrive in Thailand. You get 3 months on entry and then extend for 12 months. You do that each year. After the first one, you need 800k in a Thai account for 3 months before and after extension and 400k the rest of the year - unless you use an agent!

You don’t need insurance for Extension of Non O but you do need it for extension of a Non O-A.

You don’t need a Medical Certificate nor a Police Check to get a Non O visa only for a Non O-A.

Getting a Non O from RTE London is easy. I got one last September. Bank statement, insurance, flight, hotel booking.

The Non O was added to the RTE Canberra fairly recently. Long term it makes no difference if you get the Non O from there or if you arrive on a TR and convert to a Non O within Thailand.

If you get the Non O from Canberra you will need Health Insurance for the application, but Travel insurance you would buy anyway will be acceptable as long as you make sure the cover is sufficient.

I got a Non O from RTE London for my arrival in November with the same requirements. I already have my Extension so am good until February 2024.

If you have the cash then keeping a reserve amount for medical treatment instead of having insurance is fine. Hospitals will want to see proof you can pay so make sure you have that on you. Government hospitals are fine but will involve long waits. Plenty of hospitals around at various price levels. Most medications can be bought over the counter at any pharmacy.

When you make the move get the Non O visa for Retirement and not the Non O-A or you’ll be forced to buy useless insurance to qualify for your annual extensions.

I got Covid my first week here last month and went to the hospital for tests etc. Doctor said policy was now to recommend self-isolation for 5 days after catching it, but said tests showed I’d had it a week so no need to do anything.

There’s no limit on visa exempt entries but Immigration could ask questions if they think you are taking the piss.

I can’t answer the last question but if you are using the monthly method it must be at least baht every single month without fail.
