TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for a non-O one year extension based on retirement as many times as you meet the requirements, which includes financial criteria. While often referred to as 'renewal', each application is considered a new one. There are no limits on the number of extensions you can apply for, essentially allowing you to continue applying for this extension until your demise, as long as the necessary conditions are continually met.

Until the day you die....As long as you meet the financial criteria, are not deported / incarcerated or change your "visa".😉

I believe the term “ renewal “ is used by the visa agencies and what may cause a bit of confusion , because that’s what they say . They can renew the non o visa each and every year “ easier “ and less costly than the first time it’s done , for as many years you’d like . And as far as what the criteria will be well that’s a different story with a whole lot of factors because when working through a visa agency their connections and “situations” with the immigration officials can change year by year . But yes it’s so called “ renewable “ as much as you’d like .

You have a lot to learn about social media. It's not YOUR post, it's for anyone who wants to join in. And you don't have anger management issues, but you're threatening physical violence with two posters in this thread? Go seek some help. Please
Albert *******
@Roberto ********
man I’m not threatening either one of you ! Why do you keep insisting on that ! And social media is NOT a place where you can say whatever you want just because you are on a computer . A real man would never do that. I have no need to threaten. I could simply block the both of you but I didn’t . Guys like you crack me up . Call me the angry one when I called out a person who insulted me . If ANYTHING you should say something about insulting your fellow poster if you want to play social media police officer Roberto . No anger issues at all , but I WILL say something to you or anyone else who insults me for no reason when I wasn’t hostile to begin with . If self defense is being angry then I don’t know where the HELL you grew up. And Yes IT Is my thread because i could delete or block BOTH of you out

@Albert ******
It might be the way he feels about corruption? Everybody has differing reasons to view certain behaviours in their own way. Take a chill pill and keep that anger at bay. It's social media
Albert *******
@Roberto ********
what anger ? Look bro it’s between me and him not you so we can meet too . This is my thread not yours or his. This is none of your business. Yeah it’s social media but why on this group people think they can say whatever they want ? Be a real man and say it to someone’s face. Or be cool
Ruth *******
@Albert ******
yeah, it’s social media and we’re all needing to read your childish, chest-puffing responses. As such, Roberto has every right to ask you to stop, as I do as well. If you want a private conversation, send a private message. This concludes your Social Media 101 tutorial.

The expat community is huge in Phuket. No idea what you're talking about, but keep up with your threats of violence. A sure sign you're losing an argument 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Albert *******
@Steve *******
who threatened violence ? Meeting face to face like men to discuss a disagreement is old school. All the insulting on fb is for ignorant cowards. Real men talk face to face . Has nothing to do with violence . People are much more polite in voicing their opinion when they’re NOT behind a computer screen . And I’m sure you wouldn’t call me low to my face , so why do it here on fb? That kind of behavior to me is MUCH worse than paying a bribe … 😉 your “ losing an argument “statement is just your lawyer instincts getting the better of you and your inflated ego
Steve ********
@Albert ******
You mean the bribes keep increasing! I pay the same amount every year (1900baht). I've lived in Thailand 23 years and have yet to stoop to using an agent!
Albert *******
@Steve *******
they’re helpful if you don’t want to have the 800.000 in a Thai bank account and can’t get your embassy to issue you an income verification letter . But to each their own . Me myself I HATE going to offices and waiting all day in lines , so I find their services convenient. Why you have to use a derogatory term such as “stoop” I don’t know .
Steve ********
@Albert ******
I use the 65k/month method. Easy enough, I mean you need money to live on don't you? I make an appointment when I go to Immigration. I've never waited "all day". In and out in about an hour. If people want to pay thousands of baht to save an hour of their time, I find that a strange concept. As a retired solicitor I find the concept of corruption to be odious, so I will continue to use the word "stoop" to anyone low enough to pay a bribe for "special services".
Albert *******
@Steve *******
you can use whatever terms you’d like . Just stay off my post if they’re negative . I was talking to the original poster NOT you, trying to offer some help and not criticizing like you. Furthermore if you’d like to refer to me as being “ low” for using a particular service of my choice , then I invite you to meet me today in person and call me low to my face. Please. I live in the Patong area
Steve ********
@Albert ******
You can take it any way you like. You are offering "help", I am offering "caution" and advising the OP against getting involved in corrupt activities. If you believe you are right you simply ignore my post and jog on. Good luck with your bribing of government officials. I apologise for having higher values
Albert *******
@Steve *******
You can have your “higher values “ . I could care less . But as an older gentleman you should know better than to be insulting unknown people on this group by calling them “low”. That’s uncalled for and can start something you don’t want . The expat community is small here in phuket and insulting on fb is gonna get you in trouble sir .
Roberto *********
@Albert ******
He's actually right in what he says. Going through an agent to avoid certain criteria means you're paying a bribe to a government official. If you're comfortable doing that it's ok, but many aren't. Believe it or not there are still a lot of honest people in the world!
Albert *******
@Roberto ********
fine and dandy . But calling me low ? That’s where I say what ? You get that or not ? That’s the part of the problem

There is no limit on the number of times you can renew (actually apply for a new extension - renew is the wrong word) as long as you meet the financial requirements. Well of course until you can’t any more….
Steve ********
The retirement visa/extension is actually a non-immigrant visa based on being over 50 ("retirement" is the colloquial term). You cannot "renew" anything. You can however, apply for a new extension every year until you drop dead
Brandon ************
The actual name of the extension is not retirement in Thai it's something like "to live out your remaining years."

As long as you meet the requirements for extension you can continue getting the extension until you die.

You do not "renew" a visa though. Every extension is a brand new application, no renewal of anything.
Steve *******
@Brandon ***********
Ironically they do stamp 'retirement' on the extention even though it's based on being 50 years old or over.
Bernard *****
Until your death 😉😉😉

The name is not retirement ...but the stamp is named on the passport "retirement"
