Yea, Its called to speak Thai . Those women on those sites I would never trust , Forget about apps , stay away from places like Phuket, Pattaya , Chiang Mai , Hua Hin or any other trashy places that service foreigner, bars, massage shops, or anywhere. Any Thai women with tattoos, speaking bar English, acts strange wants to avoid you because you speak Thai (roo mak mai dee) understand much no good. Dress better than the average sloppy looking foreigner, not hard to do, learn the Thai do,s and don,ts and SMILE. Too many foreigners both men and women with scowls who look miserable here. Don,t copy them.
There are some excellent YouTube channels by Thais that can teach you the basics. I learned most of my Thai by something called immersion just living with the Thais , observing and listening. Perhaps not the easiest way but for myself it was. Besides when I first arrived here in 2001 I had very little desire to be around other foreigners and within days encountered so many obnoxious foreigners their behavior towards the Thais that was a turning point. If you are serious about a country and its culture you are not going to learn much on tours or following others like sheep.
Learning Thai is not that difficult I taught myself. Not a fan of Ayutthaya or Lopburi but they are certainly better than most places I avoid. Yes, the Thais living outside these areas in my opinion tend to be much more friendly and down to Earth than others that live in places like Phuket or Chiang Mai. These places just ooze phoniness and trashy looking.
