A Multiple entry tourist visa is valid for 6 months and it allows a permission of stay of 60 days per entry, extendable for another 30, but one would still need to exit the country after 90 days. The requirements to obtain a METV are more strict, it costs 5 times more than a single, and based on what the OP described, it's not reallt what she needs. But it's an useful visa for some nevertheless, you can stretch your stay in Thailand for 9 months 😁
Nestor Garcia Yes, every time you enter visa exempt you receive 30 days, whether at land borders or via air. Not that the maximum number of visa exempt entries allowed at land borders is 2 per calendar year. There is no limit when flying in, although people have reported being questioned on their 5th or 6th visa exempt entry and told to apply for a visa. Also, a visa exempt entry can be extended once at local Immigration for another 30 days, at a cost of 1,900 baht.
It's not that clear for me, but anyways, :) i was trying to save you the hassle of a border run around June 1st. If you exit Thailand for a short trip somewhere in between (and reenter after April 9th), you go for visa exempt 30 days+ extension 30 days and it covers you until June 7th, and you avoid the unnecessary stress of exiting just for the sake of doing a border run which may be unnecessary. If my understanding was correct that you wish to take a short trip outside of Thailand while here.
If not other scenarios apply.
You can share this with whoever you wish, everything is above board :)
Carina - Well you can't stay longer than 90 days but depending on when you exit and reenter you may do so without a visa (visa exempt), which then you extend, and it may take you past June 7th, saving you the trouble of a border run. If your nationality allows it and if your reenter date is after April 9th. That's why I am asking.
How many days after you enter, so after March 1st, are you planning to exit Thailand? And is your nationality allowing you to enter Thailand without a visa (visa exempt)?
A Single Entry Tourist visa allows you to enter Thailand once and receive a permission of stay of 60 days. Once you leave, you cannot use this visa again unless you get a reentry permit (single 1000 baht / multiple 3800 baht), which will allow you to reenter Thailand on this visa, but you will be admitted until the original date (60 days starting from March 1st). You can also extend the 60 day permission of stay for a further 30 days and you can also apply for a reentry permit while extended. For me to suggest the best scenario it would be useful to know your nationality and how many times you need to exit and approximately when, because certain nationalities can also enter Thailand without a visa(visa exempt -30 day permission of stay), that can also be extended at local Immigration for a further 30 days. So there are many possible scenarios here.
I don't know what you mean by reactivate sorry. The last day he can enter on his multiple entry non O is March 20th, and if he does enter on March 20th or anytime before that he will get a permission of stay of 90 days. There is no activation or reactivation.
Marco Corallo sorry im picky about the terminology, but it's not an extension. It's a permission of stay. He can get an extension of that permission of stay after that if he wants,at local Immigration, or he can get a new ME non O visa.
A multiple entry non O visa allows multiple entries (as many as you wish) until its expiry date. Every time you enter you receive a permission of stay of 90 days. The last day you can reenter Thailand is March 20th, and you would receive a 90 day permission of stay. After March 20th, the visa expires. If you enter on March 21st and you do not have a visa, you will receive a visa exempt permission of stay of 30 days.
