feel the noose getting tighter Elias. Make sure you report all the money you spend in thailand if here over 180 days. It's coming faster than you can react

yes, for thai landlords, this is irrelevant. If however, you have an absentee farang owner who isn't filing taxes.... you have a problem. There is no requirement for the owner to live in Thailand at all. But they need a long term visa and a TIN tax number

you are not likely to see any 'official sources'. It's more an application of enforcement of existing policy. 'Sounds like BS'? Are you under the impression that's not a very easy squeeze for them to apply on foreigners not reporting tax in the Kingdom?

They are looking to close down scammy foreign owners skirting ownership laws and taxes with this. Essentially, you won't be able to renew your visa if your landlord doesn't currently hold a long term visa.

no kidding. So he take a taxi to the ferry, ferry to Donsak, shuttle to the Surat airport, fly to KL, taxi to stay overnite at airport hotel, fly back to Surat , shuttle to Donsak, ferry to Samui, taxi home.... 'just take a cheap flight'.

which are the cheap international flights from Samui Bob? I see return from Singapore for 11,000 baht per person. Is that what you meant?
