but well, maybe I am too picky about bad & wrong wording of Thais translating english texts. What I am totally convinced about is, they want to boost the Thai Insurance economy, 80,000 applicants for a Non-Imm-O/A every year are a good money earner
Gregor **********
the wording is "must furnish a completed Insurance Certificate". They do nowhere say, that this form is solely to be used with a FOREIGN health insurance. The form but in its header says "foreign insurance certificate for Alien applying to a Non-Imm-O/A"
Gregor **********
and this is exactly how I read it, too. Why would they tell you about the "foreign insurance certificate" and in the next sentence postulate that "it may be only accepted" if a thai insurances from the tgia. list has been choosen
Gregor **********
I have never said that. You are completely msiunderstanding my post. I am referring to the text Alan Smith posted above. It is the Canberra Consulate which claims it has to be a thai insurance, even in the first year of a Non-Imm-O/A. Nowwhere in their text they say that a foreign insurance is allowed. It should be mentioned - because the form "foreign insurance certificate" is made up exactly for that
Gregor **********
not even very vague. It CLEARLY says that it must be a thai accredited insurance (all and every one from the tgia-list are thai insurances) And this is contrary to the police order which allows a foreign accredited insurance in the first year of a Non-Imm-O/A

this is contrary to the text of the police order, which allows a foreign health insurance for the first year of a Non-Imm-O/A, as long as it is confirmed on the downloadable "foreign insurance certificate" form and presented at the Embassy or Consulate together with the application. It is another example of the typical mis-understanding between ministries & departments & officials

That's correct. But even if somebody who got the visa before October 31 now enters AFTER October 31, holding this form signed by his foreign health insurance, underneath an immigrations officers eyes, this will have absolutely NO effect because the officer is not supposed to accept this form, Same applies to applicants of Extension of Non-Imm-O/A s achieved before Oct. 31. That's all that I am saying. And that only IF insurance should become mandatory for anyone with a O/A visa issued befroe Oct. 31, which until now is not 100% clear

I am not a dick to you, i am just explaining the topic. I suggest you READ what the form says, and explain to me again why you think that this form has to be shown to the Immigration officer at the entry port. The HEADER of the form says CLEARLY: "for Alien applying for a Non-Imm-O/A" and now please tell me, WHERE do you apply? Answer: on an Embassy or consulate. And in other words: HOW would an immigration officer VERIFY such a document? Only the Embassy staff can

@Tod ********
the form is ONLY for applicants of Non-Imm-O/A Visas after October 31, to hand out to the Embassies or Consulates of Thailand staff in applicants home country. And they will probably KEEP THE FORM when a visa is granted. This form has never been intended to be handed out to an immigration officer at an entry point or inside the country. And most surely NOT acceptable for any EOS or extension of the O/A visa into the second year. And it can only be accepted for the first year of the O/A visa. I can't stress this any further than what it CLEARLY says in its text! I think we all can read . .

if you are leaving by Suvarnabhumi airport, just make sure you have 30 minutes extra time, 1200 Baht ready. Make sure you enter for screening at Section 2, when you come downstairs to approach the immigration booths, the re-entry counter is at the very left. It is open
