Please provide the below response for the Thai Immigration office for their consideration.

Thank you for contacting the Embassy of Canada.
The Embassy does not issue visa extension letters for tourists to remain in Thailand.
According to verbal communication from the Royal Thai Government’s Immigration Bureau, non-Thai nationals can visit any Thai Immigration office to request a 60-day extension of stay. Thai Immigration will not require a letter from the Embassy as part of the extension request. The length of time your extension will be granted is at the discretion of Thai authorities. Please note the Royal Thai government is under no obligation to extend short-term visas and may end the practice at any time. If your request is denied or you do not wish to change to an appropriate long-term visa category, you should make plans to depart Thailand. or contact the Thai Immigration Bureau.
If you wish to remain in Thailand in the long term, you will need to apply for the relevant visa (e.g. retirement, marriage, employment, study) from the Thai Immigration Bureau. Additional information is available on the Immigration Department’s website at
I already contacted the Canadian embassy. They don’t issue any letters. Just go to the immigration office. My partner did not have any problem extending his visa without the letter.
