I don't have direct experience (yet), but many others have had luck with the Bangkok Bank on Pattaya Klang, close to Big C.

Pattaya Klang is also known as Central Pattaya road.

Thanks to
@Greg *******
in this thread for the tip, but also to others in this group who have confirmed their success in opening an account there without an agent.

Good luck!

I guess it's too early. We haven't heard a whisper from Immigration...

I've never stayed long enough, but will do on my next visit. At that time, I guess I'll need to figure out the whole TM30 deal, especially how it relates to self-reporting, when TM30 is supposed to be the responsibility of the owner or landlord.

exactly. Unless we're informed otherwise, we need to report.

Yes, I fully expect this will become my bank and branch, when I'm next in Thailand.

the DTV is issued by the MFA, but it's immigration that actually administer the visas.

This is why there's no information available in the same place that DTV application information resides.

check this:

Some visa types have different reporting requirements (LTR, Elite/Privilege), but in general, all foreigners need to do the 90 day reporting.

ask your agent.

Having a visa or not, is not a factor in getting a bank account.

There are several agents in Pattaya who can help with a bank account, even for those that are only there on a visa exemption.

Different agents have different relationships with their local bank branches, so it is dependent on agent and location.

If you don't have one already, make sure you also have/open a Wise account and card!

not really. There are agents wherever foreigners tend to stay, so perhaps check other groups/forums.

I've heard that it is best to open the account at a branch near where you stay, at least in some cases. I'm not sure why that is, but perhaps also do some research about that.
