Oh, and one last thing: this is NOT cheap to do. Our dog’s trip, + getting all documents, + her 16 days in a pet hotel while we were in ASQ cost us more than what my wife and I payed for both our flights...

As others have said: you can’t take your pet in ASQ, and when you arrive in Thailand you will not be able to go to the Suvarnabhumi quarantine station to collect your pet. We actually sent our dog 3 days ahead of us as cargo with Emirates, so we would still be home when she arrived and could make sure she was ok before we travelled ourselves, and engaged Pet Hotel Bangkok (just Google for them, we were very happy with their services) to pick her up from the airport. Make sure you have an import permit (I saw someone else already provided the email address) and all the necessary documents (vaccinations, rabies titer test results if applicable, health certificates, etc) and attach those to the kennel.

Our doggie’s trip went excellent with no hiccups and she arrived safe and sound, and she’s now with us in Thailand.

Thank you for the information, good to know if I ever have to do this again with another bank. In the mean time the problem got solved in another way. I got that photocopy of my passport stamped by my embassy earlier than expected, and with that Bangkok Bank was ok to open an account for me. I provided my wife’s home address for now as my residency. I’ve also got my 400k THB already transferred to it via TransferWise and it shows up as an international transfer, so I’m all set for whatever immigration can throw at me 😀

thanks, but I’m on a non-O visa (married to a Thai), not OA. The address is not the problem, Bangkok Bank wanted a photocopy of my passport that was legalised by the Belgian Embassy. I’ll have that tomorrow, so I should be in the clear. Thanks anyway!

Tried to open an account with Bangkok Bank yesterday. They won’t do it unless I provide them with a photocopy of my passport that has been signed/stamped by someone from the Belgian embassy here, which involves making an appointment at the embassy (2 days), waiting until I get the stamped copy back ( another 2 days+ Christmas Day holiday), then back to the bank next Monday or so. Just warning you, so you can be prepared. I’m on a non-O visa.

I requested a non-Immigration type O visa. I was not required to obtain any airplane ticket for the visa itself. However, apart from the visa, a Certificate of Entry is required to enter Thailand, and for that I had to upload a booked flight ticket (one way in my case, as I plan to extend my visa after ASQ )

We made it safe and sound to our ASQ hotel, and the first night sleep wiped all of the worries away.

Landing to hotel room was about 2 hours, the hotel van was waiting at the exit.

Process after landing was fine, pretty fast and not stressful, and everyone was friendly and helpful. I’m travelling on a Non-immigration O visa and I'm married to a Thai. My wife was accompanying me on the trip, Thais and farangs are processed separately at immigration. Immigration did ask me where I would be staying after ASQ so I just gave the address of my wife’s home.

It was not an intimidating process, just make sure you’ve got your docs ready and sorted. Be kind and friendly, and it will go smooth!
