If you’re planning on applying outside NZ, check with the respective embassy beforehand if it’s possible to apply through them. They sometimes have info on their local websites which jurisdictions they service.

For example: Wife and I applied at the closest embassy we were at the time in Athens, paid them the fees, submitted all the docs. Got an email the next day saying we needed to apply at Ankara, Turkey (as Athens embassy only services those living in Malta, Serbia and North Macedonia).

The costs are non refundable (€700) so just check the embassy jurisdiction first to be sure it’s okay 👍
