Ref : *“Subject to Thai tax should you stay longer than 180 days”*
Need some help/advice please
Currently living in the UK and looking at a DTV visa. I understand criteria and that this is technically a 5yr visa where you need to leave every 180 days and your income must not be derived from Thailand, I would also been deemed a Thai resident for tax purposes. I’m fine with all these points
What I don’t understand is, when I stay over 180 days I become subject to ‘Thai Tax’.
I fully understand UK tax (income tax) but can anyone please clarify what specific Thai tax’s I would become subject to??
My intention is to run a UK bank account & Uk Credit Card, i.e. Revoult & Starling & Amex for withdrawals, rental/condo/restaurant/bill payments etc. I will NOT remit/transfer any money to a Thai Bank. I guess I will have some bills in my name. I assume this arrangement is how most digital nomads operate
Would using apps such as TAGTHAi be deemed as remitting money to Thailand?
(Ironically i've heard the thai banks are closing all accounts down for non-residents without a long term visa, hence i couldn’t even get a thai bank account even if i tried).
i read i would need to file a tax return TIN every 6 months (which I understand I pay for) but would my actual tax liability be; ฿0 thb based on the info I’ve provided?
I've just transferred £1000 from UK to Kasikorn, the UK charged just £5 and i sent in pound sterling, because UK always charge more when they exchange it. However Kasikorn has just creamed 3%, no biggy for £1000, but this was a trial to see speed and charges, it will kill me sending 5 or 10 million baht. So my question is, from experience, do any of you know whether different banks charge different amounts, if so which is best, and finally does the amount % get less the more you send?
This post is for people staying in thailand on dtv digital nomad visa. I am asking for personal advice not professional. I am coming to thailand on dtv as digital nomad. If i stay more then 180 days in a single year and i don't remit any money into thailand from abroad. Do i still need to pay tax? I am asking for genuie advice.
Question here for the DTV holders currently residing in Thailand longer than 180 days per year therefore becoming liable for Thai income tax returns. Does anyone here have any experience dealing with a local agent that understands the situation and double tax treaties? I’m a full time online freelancer earning %100 of my income from Australian clients and pay Australian income taxes and GST. Any experience from others or recommendations for a local agent would be appreciated as we are intending to stay for 1 full year leaving the country only a few times between those 180 day periods for some other travel. From what I understand you’re only taxed on what is remitted into Thailand however it seems largely a grey area.
As a US citizen, do retirees pay taxes in Thailand?
Income earned inside Thailand during retirement is the only income subject to tax, while personal income from pension, interest, or other income sources in your home country is not subject to income tax in Thailand. This creates a 100% tax-free retirement in Thailand.
Please let me know if anyone in the group is using TransferWise, or now just Wise, to transfer their money. I am planning to do, but would be good to have some feedbacks or if anyone using it especially from the security perspective. My current plan is to transfer from Switzerland to Thailand. Thanks.
I am converting to a marriage visa extension when I return to Thailand this month. I need to send the 400K baht to Thailand for my bank account which is not yet open. The rates are very favorable right now. Can I send the money to my wife's acct and then transfer it to mine when I open it or does it have to come straight from my account in the US?
