DTV - Taipei Experience

Arrived in Taipei 07:30 on Monday morning, at the Taipei office by 09:00. Picked up the DTV 16:00 on Wednesday and back on the plane by 1930! šŸ˜‚

I have been in/out of Thailand since February 2024 on an MTV and then the latter months on Visa Exemption and decided to extend my stay in the country through the DTV soft power category. Due to a condition, I have to have dental checks every 3 months so, visited the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital Dental department who set up a care plan for the next 12 months. I was able to use these 4 check up appointments plus an up and coming appointment to repair a chipped tooth to qualify for the Medical Treatment category of the DTV. Checked in advance with the Taipei office and they required appointment slips along with a medical certificate from the dentist department.

Submitted it all at 0900 and was told to come back that day at 1530 for a decision outcome. When I returned they explained that the supervisor wanted to have an interview the following day (Tuesday) at 1500. (Panic started to set in) So nervous as hell I was called in to the side room at 1500 and was out by 1504! They just wanted to check where the savings ammount had come from and future pending payments and that I wasn't working within the country. She also asked why did I apply in Taipei and not anywhere else and I was honest and replied with "because I used my miles on EVA which made it cheaper" šŸ˜‚ She approved it there and then and told me to go back on Wednesday at 1600 to collect it!

Overall the experience in Taipei was great, the staff are very friendly and helpful. I was nervous being called for an interview but she was very nice and didn't make it stressful at all! Would highly recommend the office in Taipei and Taipei is a very nice city although, I was shivering for the entire 3 days. I am glad to be back in the Thai heat!

Can I have two visa applications going at once?

I submitted my New York application about 8 business days ago, it got pending approval after 1 day. It's for a business I own so I'm iffy about getting approved, I read that NY can take up to 30 days and I'd like to get to Thailand asap but don't want to mess up by leaving the country pending a visa.

I read that Taipei is more efficient with their visa process, if I go to Taipei and apply there instead, will there be any issues if I apply for the DTV there while my NY DTV is pending? Anyone have experience with this?

DTV Taipei success applying as a remote worker. I have had to make several trips to provide additional documents. We spoke in Mandarin but the staff seemed fluent in English as well.

Although Taiwan is still an option for non-Taiwan residents, I would be worried that this high level of scrutiny will carry over to the eVisa process after 19 November since you will only have one chance to submit an application with all these documents. You will have to wait in Taiwan for the results until the DTV is approved. Taipei hotels are far more expensive now as well.

Many thanks to all the good people in this group for sharing their experiences and advice!

*to my fellow Singaporeans applying for DTV here in Taipei, the 11k NTD application fee is waived here as well due to the reciprocial arrangement between Singapore and Thailand.

Hi lovely people! I'm leaving Thailand in about 10 days to go apply for my DTV. I am trying to choose between Vietnam and Taipei. I would appreciate to hear anyone's personal experiences with either places.

I work remotely but I also get treated for Lupus here in Thailand already so thinking of doing medical soft power since it's much easier to get paperwork together.

I recently signed a lease in Bang Saray (Pattaya area), does anyone know if a copy of my lease will help me?

Any advice or feedback is so much appreciated :)

Follow-up question: would an American applying in Taipei have to provide IRS tax documents and other nonsense? Seems applying in USA has tons of extra document nonsense like IRS tax documents, but do Americans applying from other consulates or embassyā€™s (ie Taiwan, Cambodia, etc.) have to provide it?

Hi everyone,

I searched the group but couldn't find an answer.

I am an Israeli citizen on a tourist visa in bkk now.

I am considering to fly to Taipei for a visa run and apply there for a 2 months tourist visa to Thailand.

There is little information about it on the web.

One blog post says its doable.

Has anyone, no Taiwanese l, did it in the last year or so?

Thanks!
