Today went to DLT Chatuchak in Bangkok, wasn't sure if I will get 2 or 5 years driving licence today. Staff needed to discuss a little bit and they apologise but they can give me only 2 years driving licence. They say a few days ago they would gave me 5 years. But they said that "some regulations changed". If other DLTs still issue 5 years DL for DTV holders maybe it is worth to have trip there.
Hi All. Great group with useful info. I'd appreciate your advice. I am a DTV holder looking to get a driving license. Part of the doc requirements include Residence Certificate. Looking for the easiest and fastest way to get this done for a DTV holder. Please note I have not completed 90 day reporting. Open to paying for a fast-track service. Any thoughts/experiences?
For those who've had their DTVs approved and already entered the Kingdom, has anyone tried to obtain a 5 year driver's license or extend a 5 year license for another 5 years using the DTV? I would expect it's permitted, but just wondering. If it isn't, then a marriage visa would be better (for those who are married to Thais).
Does anyone know if its possible to still apply for motorbike license if your on the 60 days plus 30 days extension? Im hearing getting the cert of residence is main issue but that it also depends on where you apply for it. Iv heard if you are in a less touristy place its a far easier and faster process. Any experiences?
I’m impressed with Cha Am immigration and department of transportation today.
In a little under 2 hours I have been to immigration to complete my 90 day reporting, get a certificate of residency and a multiple entry stamp. I then went a little down the road to the transport office to apply for and receive my Thailand driving licence.
I live in Switzerland. I’m over 50 and have a house in hua hin.
I want to go to Thailand in October and stay for three months.
In February 2023 I want to visit again and get a driving license .
October I will again and this time I want the three month visa then be able to apply for retirement visa inorder to live in Thailand 2024 and ship my household goods.
Any advice on the type of visa required and where to apply
I have been told that you cant apply for a new drivers licence until 21st October. Anyone know for sure and does it mean i cannot hire a motorcycle after 3 months in the country on an OA visa. Thanks.
