TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of obtaining a Thai driver's license in Chiang Mai involves some specific requirements. Many expats note that the TM6 form is often not needed, especially if you arrived by air last year when it was suspended. You will require a Certificate of Residence from your immigration office or embassy, but availability may vary by province and some embassies may not issue them anymore. Additionally, a health certificate is necessary, which can typically be obtained from any local clinic in under 10 minutes for a small fee. Ensure that you have completed any necessary paperwork, like the 90-day report, if applicable to your visa type.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
If you’re in Bangkok then you won’t be able to get a certificate of residence from immigration unless you’ve done a 90 day report - which you can’t do unless you’re on a long term visa/extension.
You probably don't have a TM6 as it was suspended for all arrivals by air last year.
Certificate of residence from immigration or your embassy. Some embassies have stopped issueing them. Every province immigration office has different requirements to issue this.
Any clinic in Thailand should be able to offer you a health certificate for drivers license. Takes less than 10 minutes.
