Does anyone know if its possible to still apply for motorbike license if your on the 60 days plus 30 days extension? Im hearing getting the cert of residence is main issue but that it also depends on where you apply for it. Iv heard if you are in a less touristy place its a far easier and faster process. Any experiences?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a motorbike license in Thailand while on a 60-day visa plus a 30-day extension can be complex. The main requirement is a residence certificate, which can vary by location. Some DLT offices may allow you to apply with a tourist visa, while others may require a non-immigrant visa. Using an agent is recommended for a hassle-free process. Local advice suggests having a Thai person assist you with obtaining the residence certificate, as they can navigate the requirements more easily.

Best advice I got was from a Thai Driving school. If you have any kind of documented address or live with a friend or girlfriend or boyfriend, take someone thai with you to get residency certificate. My Thai person did all the talking and it went right through.

Most of the other Falang with their girlfriends did not seem to say much either. I’m coming up with lists of stuff to take and my girlfriend says, “We don’t need any of that”. I brought it anyway and she was right.

Any chance to replace or exchange valid Canadian Driver licence to Thai ?

The formal requirements for a residence certificat is that you have a permanent Thai adress, the last 3 months, on a longterm visa (Not tourist)

But Immigration officers can not always remember that.

But anyway, you may have to wait 2-3 month to get appointment for a driving test.

If you want a hassle free approach then use an agent. Doesn’t matter if you are on exempt or a visa as they just sort everything and beat all the queues etc

It all depends where you are. They will all want a residence certificate and some require you are on a non-immigrant visa

Just like everything else in Thailand, it depends on where you are. Each DLT office has their own requirements. Some will allow a tourist visa to apply for a license and some will not. They'll all require a residence certificate though.
