Hi everyone

Looking for advice here. My contract with my current employer ends on October 31st as well as my visa and my work permit. I have secured another position starting November 1st.

What would be the best way to make the transition between the two jobs regarding visa and work permit given the situation at the moment?

Thanks in advance for your time.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on transitioning from one job to another in Thailand as their current work contract, visa, and work permit expire on October 31st, while their new job starts on November 1st. A commenter suggests that if the user's visa is based on their current employment, they will need to cancel their current extension and apply for a new extension with the new employer's documents.

I would imagine you don't have ANY visa at all and instead are on an extension of stay based on employment

If that's the case you would cancel the extension you have now with documents from your current employer and immediately apply for a new extension with documents from the new employer

Thanks

. Quite helpful. I am reading right now about the same subject and it says I will need a termination letter from my old employer to cancel current extension, apply for new work permit with my new employer and then apply for a new extension. I guess that what you mean by coordination with both employers.

Hi Tod. That's correct, I am on an extension of stay. I guess what you're talking about must be done before October 31st or on this very same day at the latest. Am I right?

you could cancel the extension up to a couple weeks before the Oct 31st last day and the immigration office would just stamp you in until the 31st, then you could get the documents and apply for the new extension from the time you cancelled the old extension until the 31st. BUT it's gonna take coordinating with BOTH employers to pull off that's for sure
