I have a qestion regarding visa and work permit.

This is the situation. I have a work permit and visa. Both of them still have sufficient expiry date. Now I am quiting the job (last date sep30) and also going back to my country for 1 month (from oct10 to sep 10). After that I am starting job with new company back in thailand. So my work permit will get cancelled around october 7. So my question is when I am back in my country do I have to apply for the visa again because my visa is still valid till mar 2019.

p.s my country is Nepal, we dont get on arrival visa to thailand :D

Thanks

This is happening to me right now, the work permit and visa are cancelled, you have 10 days to reapply for new visa and work permit or leave.

I thought so. Don't post unsupported rumors or unsubstantiated misinformation. People tend to believe things when they are written down.

Me, maybe it's not 10 days but its something like that.

I resigned, then company took passport and cancel work permit, passport came back with void stamped in it and another stamp that said something like permitted to stay until 10 September. I didn't get the work permit back.

Now have to go with the new company and get permit and passport sorted.

a Visa can not be cancelled, the Extension of Stay based on Working will be cancelled on the last day of working. If needed you can than apply for a new Extension of Stay and if you do not meet the requirements you will get the stamp: Application is not approved and get 7 days to leave the country. I never heard anything about you get 10 days to apply for a new work permit and a new visa.

Your Work Permit is a booklet that allows you to work, not to stay inside the country. For staying inside the county you need the Visa and that Visa is valid till the Admitted until date stamped in your passport when you entered the country. Do you have a Multiple Entry Non Immigrant B visa, because I not understand a proper visa not 90 days and it is valid till Mar 2019. So or do you go every 90 days to a border and activate a new 90 days period or do you have an Extension of Stay and report to Immigration. To help you, look at these two pictures and compare with what is in your passport with the date of Mar 2019.

It is the easiest to do this in Thai.

Get the letter form your company stating you end the job on October 10. As soon as you have this letter you visit the Ministry of Labor and get your Work Permit cancelled with the last day Oct 10 and than visit Immigration Office and cancel your Extension of Stay at Oct10. You can do this any day from today.

@Bikal *******
yep, you definitely WILL have a problem getting a new extension of stay based on employment without having canceled the previous one.

Ah okay I will do that. but just curious, If I change my last date of work to 10 Oct (the day I am flying), Then that day after I fly, then my company cancels my work permit. I go back home. So when I am applying for new visa from my home country for new company in thailand, will it be problem if I had not cancelled my extension of stay before I left?
Tod *********
@Bikal *******
You need a letter from your company stating your last day of work is the date you fly out (many companies will write the termination paper that way), Then you cancel your work permit, you take that receipt and the termination paper to the immigration office cancel your current extension and they will stamp you in until the date on the termination paper <- which is why I said to get your employer to write it stating your last day is the date you fly out.
Robert *******
NO, you permitted to stay ends on 30 Sep. You can apply for a new Extension of Stay but if you do not meet the requirements you will get the stamp: Application not approved and 7 days to leave the country.

hmm okay. So my last day is 30 Sep, the same day my work permit will be cancelled right? Then also on that day I have to go to Immigration Office and cancel my Extension of stay. Then am I allowed to leave on october 10, without paying any fine? because I have already bought ticket for oct 10.
Robert *******
Okay, Than you have to visit the Immigration Office and cancel your Extension of Stay with the last day 30 Sep 2018.
Tod *********
@Bikal *******
;) I knew that :) ,

you have to CANCEL that extension before you leave the country.

I have non immigration multiple entry visa, which I had applied on April of 2017 so I had 2 years visa till march 2019. That is why . Also I cannot get visa from border run as my country(Nepal) is not allowed visa on arrival.

hi robert, yes i have proper visa not 90 days. Okay so work permit has to be cancelled immediately on last date? and I do we get like 7 days to stay after work permit is expired?
Robert *******
If you stop working on Sep 30, than your work permit must be cancelled on Sep 30 not around October 7, the big question is now are you on an actual Visa and doing border runs every 90 days or are you on an Extension of Stay and report to Immigration every 90 days?
