I have the same situation as below with my work visa. I am working for a company and the permit will be canceled. I wish to apply for a tourist visa after. It's still unclear to me exactly what I need to do.

If the company takes my permit and cancels on agreed upon day can I just leave the country on or before that day to do my visa run?

Would really appreciate clarity here ๐Ÿ”ฑ

The user is seeking advice on the process of transitioning from a canceled work visa to a tourist visa in Thailand. They are unclear about leaving the country after their work permit is canceled and before applying for the tourist visa.

Sorry Tod ...this is my extension I think. So it's the second time I left the country and got my Non B re-issued with the same company.

Thanks for your time Tod so the end result of this is I can stay until end date on my Non B and company can cancel visa.

Ok, let's make it easier: Do you have a sticker in your passport that's valid for a year, or a stamp that's valid for a year?

I thought so...glad you have clarified your situation.

you think? I mean you're either ON an 90 day entry from a non-B visa OR you went to the immigration office and got an in country year extension. SO what is it?

Original non B

Yes to your questions.

The permit is for 12 months. The Non B needs to be applied for again out side the country every 3 months.

And go the next Non B

I'm in Koh Phangan. So I didn't go to the Samui office for an extension. I left the country with company paper work.

So I got my original non B and then the permit. Then left the country and go my next non B. (so this is what you mean by extension right?)

@Rochelle *********
you are sure its not an extension? Is this your first 90 days on the NonB ?

But what your saying sounds much better
Tod *********
Then you can just stamp out and go to a thai consulate in another country and apply for a tourist visa
Tod *********
Then even if your work permit is canceled you can stay until that 90 day stamp runs out.
Tod *********
and the question IS

are you on the original 90 day entry of the Non-B visa or are you on an extension from the immigration office
Tod *********
here is a Non-B VISA (in this case it's a year long, multi-entry) and here is an extension from the immigration office
