TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is frustrated with their Bangkok Bank account being locked and seeks information on how long it will take to unlock it. Various comments suggest that the unlocking process can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks, with some users advising patience and caution. Concerns are raised about banking procedures for foreigners in Thailand, and there is discussion on other banks that may be more expat-friendly.

My bank manager yesterday said they were just informed some customers may have to wait 6 to 8 weeks.

You would have more success communicating with your bank rather than discussing this issue on Facebook.

Get rid of Bangkok Bank. Why allow a bank to freeze your account for weeks not giving you access to your own money. Why stay with that bank after this. You see how they sre treating their customers ... go to another bank ooen account and trabsfer your money when it's unlocked

kasikorn. I opened while dealing with bangkok bank. They are so friendly wise transactions from usa bank go thru instantly. Bangkok was always next day. Bangkok Bank is the worse. They allowed all of these people to oorn accounts and they are now locking them going on 3 weeks now. Very mismanaged bank. They day my account is unlocked will be the day i transfer my 1.2 million baht to kasikorn bank

Expect 1-2 weeks. The bank staff told me 7-10 days. But I overheard another staff say 1-2 weeks.

Do you really think people in this group which is actually about visa advice would know more than your branch and Bangkok Banks call center?

You might not have noticed the name of this group, but it's not about banks freezing accounts and coming up with time frames. There are probably better suitable groups here on FB,don't you think? There are several posts about this with exactly same question and no one has the answer.

as the freezing of the accounts is related to visas I think this is the place to discuss it. No one twists your arm to read the thread and certainly you are not forced to comment.

the bank are asking for proof of long term visa so yeah you are probably right nothing to do with visas. Like I said if the thread doesn't interest you scroll past.

morning Max. Banking is the primary criteria for getting a Visa. I think it is a very valid and suitable question to ask in this group as it does relate to visas. Cheers

There are several posts about exactly same topic, and some have more than 100 comments but no one has the answer. And more than 50% of those comments comes from clueless people with no idea what this is about. Some are sitting in a sofa back home and not in Thailand. Get it?

the name of the group has "& more" at the end of the title. So isn't it reasonable to assume that this banking topic is covered by & more?

I guess I know a lot more than you why their accounts are frozen. You like many others are just coming up with nonsense comments without having a clue. How does that help anyone? Please tell.

this is totally incorrect. They definitely didn’t freeze the accounts of all expats. That’s just fake news and ridiculous.

even if they did not freeze all accounts, there are hundreds or reports of long term visa holders whose accounts were frozen for no reason. While I admit I made a mistake when writting this. It does not warrant you getting so offended. especially since you are not an employee of the bank. I will edit the comment to correct the mistake, but other than that everything I said was correct.

It will be unlocked when they unlock it. Some people have reported by the end of the day they went into the office, others have said it's been more than a week. With thousands of people having to go in to provide this information, it's likely to take a while.
