TLDR : Answer Summary
There is ongoing confusion regarding the acceptance of Bangkok Bank accounts for retirement visa applications in Thailand. Some users claim that immigration is no longer accepting accounts from Bangkok Bank, while others insist that accounts are still accepted if they meet the required financial criteria. Many comments suggest that the problems may stem from stricter bank diligence regarding account information, affecting accounts that may have been used in conjunction with agents. Overall, experiences vary, with some individuals successfully using their Bangkok Bank statements without issue.

Not true. My IO accepted BB statements printed from the app but I had to provide home bank statements too. No bank letter was needed but this was for monthly payments not lump sum.

Its amazing how making a new retirment visa turned from 2×1900 B about 8 y ago to payments starting at

B of coruption. If this story will be published on N.Y.T and few major europian newspapers it will go back to the old price..

The rules are simple. You need
*****
0 in your account for a set period before and after your renewal.

Anyone paying an agent to bribe the bank to falsify records is committing a crime. If you can't meet the visa financial requirements, go somewhere else.

There have been a couple of separate issues with Bangkok bank. One is, they have frozen some accounts. These are mostly people with tourist visas. The second is that some people have reported that, for a while, the mechanism for marking transactions as coming from a foreign source wasn't working when using Wise for transfers. If you're using the income method for extensions, the transactions need to be coded as foreign.

Yes my Bangkok bank account was blocked for no reason on retirement visa . Last year .

I had money in the account too .

That’s why never ever put large amount of money into a foreign bank .

They change rules whenever they feel like it.

Now I’m with another bank .

That has nothing to do with this post. Your account was frozen for KYC, it was not rejected by immigration.

You cannot use a Bangkok bank account with a agency to lend you 800,000 Thai Baht for about 15 minutes for a retirement visa

You certainly can. Plenty of agents still do this. They just use a bank branch that's not in Pattaya.

Malcolm Vance give you an example. I heard that you are sick. so anyone knows if it is true? This is not a gossip at all. Just heard and asked if it is true. Then, you show up and say, hey guys I am fine!! am not sick at all. That is fake news. this is fact. so his question is answered. End. This is not a gossip or spread out the fake. But if he still say you are still sick!! then this is fake and he spreads out the fake. he is fake news spreader.

So much wrong with this.

First of all, agents are not creating "fictitious" bank accounts, and they never have. They were assisting people with opening a bank account, a real bank account, for a real person.

Second of all, plenty of agents are still using Bangkok Bank with no issues, it's just not branches in Pattaya that were receiving extra scrutiny.

You literally have no idea what you are talking about. The agent puts money in the applicant's real bank account and then removes it.
