Why is my Bangkok Bank account unable to make transfers or top up despite no notifications?

Hi folks, I have a question about Bangkok Bank😅. I haven't received any communication either on the app or via email or text stating that my account is locked, but I'm unable to make transfers or top up my mobile service. Although I can still receive money into the account, I'm unsure if it's locked or temporary. Has anyone experienced this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users are experiencing issues with their Bangkok Bank accounts being potentially locked without prior notifications. Common reasons include the need for updated visa status or alignment of SIM registration with passport information. Customers have suggested visiting the bank in person for verification, as recent procedural changes require facial recognition and other checks, causing transactional limitations. Those affected are encouraged to contact customer service or visit their bank branch for clarification and resolution.

I am in the same boat. Account opened in Pattaya. No communication - no nothing. Cannot make transfers (error AC09 - recipients account invalid) but I can receive money. Have you tried withdrawals?

Recently, all banks require account holders to visit the bank for facial recognition before being allowed to conduct any transactions.

Same thing happened to me yesterday (I updated my phone number at the bank 2 weeks ago) and I received no SMS or any notification that my account is locked. Yet I couldn’t make any transfer. I called BKK bank customer service and after verification, they told me that it is locked and I need to go to the branch I have opened this bank account to update my visa status. Hope this info helps.

I have the same issue and from everything I’ve read, it will get frozen and closed as soon as I update my passport at the bank branch :( thinking of going tomorrow to check but dreading the line/wait

It might just be a Passport and SIM check that you need. There are a few checks that Bangkok Bank are making and one is that your passport and SIM registration aligns. As for other checks it can depend on a number of factors. The branch opened, , date of account opening, how the account is operated and of course visa type. There seems to be no consistency.

e. just go into them with your passport. they will just verify you and it will take about 5 days for your account to be fully activated

It depends. Not everyone who has had their account restricted gets it unfrozen and not closed. PS: passport only is not enough.

passport , lease contract and AIS bill still was not enough. Account closed .

Anonymous participant 991 The way it has been handled is a mess. There is no consistency or clarity. I can understand if changes are made but they should be communicated with clarity and time given. As an example, many UK banks will not allow overseas addresses, ie non-UK residents, to keep their accounts open. They were given time and why these changes were made.
