Do I need to declare a one-day visa overstay before going through passport control in Thailand?

I read a recent post explaining what happens if you stay 1 day over on a visa exempt stamp.

Do I need to declare this before I go through passport control, or just go through as normal, and they will stamp it with 1 day overstay? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have overstayed your visa exemption by one day, you can proceed directly to passport control without any declarations. At international airports in Thailand, the exit stamp will indicate 'overstay less than 24h'. However, at land borders, you may need to pay a fine at a designated counter, as the fine waiver applies only at airports.

Just go straight to passport control. If it's a departure from an international airport, they stamp you out mentioning "overstay less than 24h". If it's at land borders, they'd give you directions on where to pay a fine (some borders have separate counters, and some borders collect fine at passport control).

Remember, the overstay fine for 1 day (less than 24 hrs) will be waived only at airports, not at land borders.
