TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is experiencing difficulties with a frozen Bangkok Bank account, expressing frustration about not being able to make small daily withdrawals for basic expenses like food and bills. The comments provide advice on alternative solutions, such as transferring money from overseas, using international bank cards, and even switching banks to avoid future issues.
Go to immigration, get a residence certificate and open another bank account at another bank. Bangkok bank froze my account, went to kasikorn and was using their banking app within a few hours. My transfers with Bangkok bank took 3 to 5 days. My new Kasikorn account transfers are complete in 3 to five seconds. I had other ways of getting money thankfully, but i won't get caught with only one Thai bank account again.
I think if you get the card out of country you can use it here until your a resident and wise figures it out, that’s what happened to me then they canceled the card
It's not the banks around the world that are creating problems. The problems are caused by certain Chinese-Owned banks in Thailand, like BB, which are causing a lot of problems for their clients due to their incompetent staff.
who is silly, you. I think the bank cares if they lose money, acvount holders of if they have to spend much time dealing with complaints via to official body for consumer rights.
sorry jeza...goes to show you haven't got your finger on the pulse. Frozen , blocked means just that ...you can't do sweet fa until whenever...can't close the ac , can't transact , can't withdraw...nothing .....Champ.
rubbish statement, if you detail are correct and you had spent 10 mins going to the bank to update everything, then you shouldnt have a problem. It's been in the media for months saying please update your phone number and details
totally agree but not just the Chinese it’s the Russians as well, not to mention countless other countries we don’t hear about… Fu**s it up for the rest of us trying to do the right thing and enjoy our retirement in this beautiful land….
Frozen accounts are NOT random targeted. It's about "relatively" new accounts. One guy was told by his branch the limit was 4 years. I've also heard 5 years.Which one is correct, I don't know.
Hey David, Stuart’s idea is a good idea about Western Union. I do not need to anymore, but I have a number of times over the years transferred money from my Australian Bank via my Western Union App and sent to myself in Thailand as the recipient for a cash pickup at any Western Union Branch in Thailand.
